Life with PlayStation to tie-up with Folding@home

A post on Sony’s Official PlayStation.Blog has revealed a little more about the upcoming ‘Life with PlayStation’ application for PS3.

Unfortunately, Noam Rimon, Development Manager at SCEA R&D, began with announcing another short delay to its release. It was initially bumped to the end of August but appears to have slipped into September.

The good news, however, is that the application will be completely free and deliver live news reports and weather updates right to the XMB. As is the way with Sony, these won’t be provided in a bland list, but instead on a "visually stunning and interactive global map".

The other tidbit was a tie-up with Stanford University’s Folding@home project:

"While you’re tuned into Life with PlayStation, you’ll also be helping Stanford researchers cure diseases like Alzheimer’s and various types of cancer while Folding@home is running in the background."

Hopefully this cool addition to PlayStation 3’s XMB will be available in early September. Stick to PSU for updates.
