[UPDATE] Resident Evil 5 receives co-op demo on February 5

UPDATE:

Capcom's Senior Director of Communications and Community, Chris Kramer, offered confirmation to PSU regarding this story, stating, "[the] PS3 version of the demo will be coming out around a week after it premiers on Xbox LIVE," adding, "PS3 demo will hit N. America and Europe; unsure of Asia/Japan timing."

Were you unable to attend Capcom's party last week when they displayed Resident Evil 5 on 7-story tall screens at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas? If you happened to miss out on that event, Capcom has you covered with a fully-fledged co-op demo due for release on PlayStation Network on February 5.

The demo will offer gamers three ways in which to play the upcoming survival horror sequel. First up is via co-op gameplay with an AI partner; the second mode involves a split-screen and one of your buddies, while the third and final way, allows you to play the demo over the PlayStation Network with someone from your Friend's List.

In terms of areas to explore, the demo will take place in the same environments seen in both the E3 and Tokyo Game Show demos, namely the Assembly Place and Shanty Town stages. Both areas feature a boss enemy to take down, such as the masked executioner and Chainsaw Majini.

Expect to see our updated hands-on preview of the title sometime this week from the aforementioned Capcom extravaganza.

    Yeah thats right it will also feature SPLITSCREEN co-op , at last a developer that has realised that some of us do actually have real life friends that actually visit us in our own homes. Killzone devs could learn a thing or two from these guys

    I can't wait to play this demo. I love resident evil and this should be fun. The Co-op thing is what I like the most.

    We can all find out a lot earlier on our 360's as the demo is out way before the PS3.

    Offline Co-op, wtf? I hope this is true because I distinctly remember Capcom saying not long ago that this game would be with the AI or online only co-op. This game just shot back up near the top of my list again.
