Activision: "PS3 is the most advanced platform"

During the Web 2.0 Summit last week, Activision's Chairman and CEO, Robert Kotick, stated that he believes the PlayStation 3 is the most advanced gaming platform available.
During his presentation, Kotick took questions from the audience, one inquiry leading him to talk about the PlayStation 3 and how developers are building for its hardware.
"[The] PlayStation 3 is the most advanced gaming platform, but very few game developers are building products that take full advantage of the console's powerful, multicore processor," he said.
He then went on to state that it will gradually change over the next four or five years.
With Activision being one of the gaming industries largest publishers, it's good to hear that they have strong confidence in the PS3's hardware and understand that it may take developers a while to fully harness the power of the machine.

he is correct in his assertion. But i don't think it will take that long. If the real devs who wanna get to explore their digital artistic expression... truly.... instead of jumping for the 1st bag of money thrown at them to develop something for the more popular console. I'm just saying.... i don't really know how things are per se, but i know what Sony's brainchild has to offer those real devs who seek to master the beast within the ps3. Something damn near close to perfect yo.... just can't be scared. Ninja Theory wasn't neither was F5 or Naughty Dog. So who's next??

I've always had a subtle respect for Activision. I can't wait to see what they have in store for the PS3

Good to see someone looking forward to working on projects then to just cast them aside and blame the "difficulty" in the system.

totally gay, I dont want a change in 4-5 years, I want a change now, b4 I sell my PS3 alrdy... ppl keep saying its the best, but I still dont see it..
And no Im not a XBOX fanboy, Im all for sony actually, Im just getting fed up with the lack of support and games and crappy ports, and developers not taking full advantage of the PS3 b/c its "too much work"

You gottta think how long did it take dev's even the 1st party ones to fully harness the power of the PS2??? 5 to 6 yrs??? Well them saying 4 to 5 is actually quicker. The PS3 is a complex system and very powerful so it will take time for dev's to fully understand it. Also I think just as long as Sony keep's helping them then they will get it done sooner.

Activision is bringing Spiderman freind or foe to the 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, PC and DS but not the PS3? Don't matter anyway as IGN scored it a 4.9. Funny enough IGN gave every version a 4.9 and each versions are supposedly rated by different members eg. The Wii version rated by IGN nintendo, 360 version rated by IGN Microsoft. Something tells me IGN didn't play all versions as they couldn't be bothered and gave the 4.9 from one version to all ther other versions.

NYFAN-how would u know its a complex system oh wait i forgot u worked n designed the ps3 for sony haha not.your just quoting facts from other souces n not saying wot u feel, n everone else feels.this is fact tho and that is people don`t buy a console to wait 5years for a good game, just not gonna happen mate plus its not on.devs arnt thick n can make great games now like resistance, unreal, final fantasy,mgs4 so thats prove u don`t need 4 or 5 years to get a good game just need more devs working on ps3 n no xbox bk handers to game companies.

call me crazy but ps3 shuld have been helping these devs a long time ago I mean they shuld have known. sense its such a complex and powerful system devs would need help from the company that built the dam thing. seems to me Sony planned to say, "here this is the most advanced gaming console built yet. figure it out." makes no sense

Didn't everyone know this over a year ago, prior to launch? Kind of redundant to say this now, or at all for that matter.
