Afrika heading to U.S., National Geographic to publish

Remember Afrika? Well, it's Afrika no longer; meet National Geographic: Africa.

National Geographic is jumping headfirst into the gaming industry by snagging the publishing rights to the PS3 wildlife photography title, which is expected to launch in North America next month. There's no word on a European release just yet.

National Geographic Games also announced it has partnered with Namco Bandai Games America and Sony Computer Entertainment to publish and distribute future National Geographic-branded titles globally on major gaming consoles and handheld devices, including the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3 and PSN, PCs and mobile devices such as the iPhone.

    I don't know if I would want to drop $60 on this game/picture safari but I would definetly check it out if it was around $30.  Maybe they could make it a PSN download.   Either way I won't have room in my budget or schedule for any new games till the New Year.

    it'd be pretty cool if I had kids.  I'm sure this is goin to be a hit in households with young children.

     wow...that's awesome news....I was really hoping that this would come to NA...and after playing FarCry 2 ...it puts me in the mood for some Safari action...pretty sweet!

    duuude I will buy! never been to Afrika so this will have to do. Sneaking up on dangerous critters armed with only a camera! Looks like some free roaming fun to me. buy gta for the kids and save this one for yourself. LOL

    i cant believe Sony gave up the publishing rights for this game. they must really feel that  the west would not be intersted in this game. another thing is they are trying to get casual gamers to the PS3.  why would you give up the publishing rights to a game that can bring all types of people over to your console. this may be one of the dumbest move they have made. now if this game end up being a jewle among kids, adults, zooalogest, people who are into nature. this game can end up being something to people around the world.

    Having an endorsement through National Geographic was a very good move.  Was thinking that should happen, but I didn't think that it would.  My faith in mankind has been restored.  :-)

    it would be cheaper and better to go to the zoo. you could bring your camera and take pics of REAL animals. or better yet theres a place called african lion safari about an hour away from me. you drive your car through and hope the monkies are in a good mood. you can also bring your camera. i wonder if they will make an ant farm game or birdwatching...

    While this games itsn't on my 'must buy' list i would love to get this one day when i have the money. I'm interested in seeing what other places NG would come up with for the same idea, like oceans and things.

    @pizzamonkia you do know wild animals act diffrent to those thats born in the zoo and that have been captive for a number of years

    National Geogrpahic: Africa hey....do i hear National Geographic: Australia? or South America? imagine new zealand? hmmm.

    i dont know but i have a slight suspicion this could end up being a franchise judging just by the title.
