Brash Entertainment has announced plans to release a videogame adaptation of the forthcoming Alvin and the Chipmunks live action movie later this year.
According to the developers, who formed with a USD 400 million funding earlier this year, the game will take the form of a rhythm-based party title and will feature a total of 40 tracks, including ‘We're the Chipmunks... C-H-I-P-M-U-N-K’, All the Small Things (Blink 182), Heartbreak Hotel (Elvis Presley), It's Tricky (Run DMC), All Star (Smashmouth) and Shiny Happy People (REM).
The movie itself is due out on December 14th, and stars Jason Lee of My Name Is Earl fame as the trios long-suffering father, Dave Seville. Alvin and the Chipmunks is due for release on PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, DS and Wii on December 4th. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

You seem to forget, reviving and then raping our childhood memories is all en vogue in hollywood this decade. There's rumors of a New HeMan movie, a ThunderCats movie, we've already had a new Transformers, TMNT, and a slew of others. The question though is will the game be well thought out, I mean It'll be a rhythm game so there's not question it's a simple concept but will it be a good one or just a lame rip off of rhythm games we've already grown tired of? I could see them making a Beatmania/Frequency/Amplitude/Guitar Hero style game of it.

yes hollywood just ditched all originality and picked up a shovel and said that it is time to go grave robbing. i don't know how this started. it seems like every movie that is action related was originally a comic book. 300 was wasn't it? it wouldn't be surprising. kids movies are all CG and retarded, because people think they can make another toy story. its sad. and shrek, don't get me started, well lemme just say that there is a reason why he is green....$$$

If I ever, EVER, see anyone in possession of this game, I will snap the disc into shards and put every little piece in their neck.
