Analyst: 360 to outsell PS3 this xmas by 2:1

A report filed by prediction market the simExchange states that the Xbox 360 will outsell Sony’s PlayStation 3 console in North America by as much as 2-to-1 between now and the end of 2007.
Analyst Jessie Divnich forecast sales of 2 million for Microsoft’s console during period up to and including the 2007 holiday season, with the PS3 selling around 1 million units. Nintendo’s Wii and DS are set to lead the pack, however, with sales of 3.28 million and 2.86 million units each, respectively.
While the report – complied from thousands of gamer, developer and industry predictions – does take into account the recently released 40GB PS3 model, it observes that software sales for the month of October were actually below that of estimations.
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction sold 74,500 units last month, putting it lower than it’s predicted 129,000 mark. However, the upcoming Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is expected to be a heavy hitter during December, with sales estimated at 286,000 units.
Elsewhere, sales predictions for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed have fallen due to the publication of lower-than-expected review scores on a global basis, with Divnich targeting an average score of 80 – 90 per cent, as opposed to the 95 per cent margin.
Sales estimates for the game now stand at 1.84 for the Xbox 360 version (down from 2.85 million) and 1.38 million for the PS3 version (down from 1.48 million)

I'm a major Sony boy, but Mass Effect has me moist I tell you, moist!
As much I'm up for Uncharted and Haze, Sony really needed Unreal Tournament 3 to compete with Mass Effect.

Thats a pretty bold statement but i'm going to try and be realistic and say the 360 may very well outsell the PS3 during the holidays. But it won't be by much. PS3 sales are going to get better exponentially as time goes on. I still think R&C will be a heavy hitter this season along with UDF, AC, and Haze. I'm curious to see how many copies of R&C are sold in november given the fact that the 40gb ps3 will have a full month under its belt. I have a feeling this is one game people are picking up with their new ps3's. Also look at those AC numbers. The 360 version is expected to sell only 400,000 more copies than the PS3 version despite the 360 having an install base double the size of the PS3. that will definitely make some developers turn heads. For every halo 3, bioshock,or mass defect the 360 has, the PS3 has its uncharted, R&C and haze, and the wii has its mario galaxy and smash brothers. Look at this any way you want but this holiday season every console is a winner.

I wonder if Ubisoft is angry about their Assassin's Creed. 3 million copies of a game is a heck of a lot. There should be no problem there. I'm sure R&C will pick up. It's more of a kid's game anyway. How many "kids" right now own a PS3? If you ask me, it's more the adults that have money or "older" kids that worked hard to get one.

And people wonder WHY seemingly biased reviews get railed against. The average person reads these reviews and make purchasing decisions off of them.
It is possible for the 360 to outsell the PS3 but it isn't a given. We'll see how things pan out afterwards.

Seriously why do analysts feel the need to make such ridiculous predictions? Just say out loud "we hate the PS3 and want to spend money for services we dont really need!" it' would be a whole lot easier for them.
I wonder if they're call ANALysts for a reason....

i think that people have made up there mind on what console they want for christmas and i think that some people dont even know that the console is being sold at $399.
i think this will be tough but if ps3 does not outsell the x360 then ps3 got some problems.

who cares what happens in the USA!!! Why is that everywhere else the ps3 is doing great. By great I mean spanking the 360, yet in the USA it's not. Oh no Sony has lost. That's just like Blu ray and HD-dud. The only place HD-dud has a chance is in the USA. It's lost the war it just doesn't know it. Remember world wide the 360 only sold 400 more units then the PS3 htis last year. Rememeber the PS3 came out in march for Europe.

If sony can't win the n.america market then i'm afraid it won't win this war and it's looking truly unlikely now but if sony can keep there sales up what they had this week a hundred thousand consoles sold well yes but who knows. And to the idiot who said only thirty per cent of n.americans have hd tv it was brought out in n.america ten years ago.

XB2B1... your right about xbox live offering more but thats because you are paying 50 BUCKS A YEAR. Dumb''''. If you weren't ignorant then you would see that a 40gb PS3 is a MUCH better value than than your 360. Heck its even a better value than your elite which costs $50 more.

well September NPD reported that in the US, Xbox 360 was the #1 console for the month; outselling PS3 5:1 and Xbox 360 software revenue at retail outsold PS3’s software portfolio 8:1 and Wii’s 4:1, selling 3 times more than both platforms combined.

which you see had a small drop off because of halo 3 buy out and xmas sales next few weeks. so I really do think that xbox will sell 2.1 to the ps3 because of the currents sale units that 360 has sold plus the large game title selection and current sales numbers. I would not be suprized if the xbox 360 sells 3.1 or 4.1 this xmas seassion...

$50 bucks a year is nothing for an awesome network like Xbox Live. No lag and seriously fun games, but guess what? It's free for downloading games, movies, tv shows, patches, friends, messenger etc... so pay if you want to play! If McDonalds had a free eating service, I'd pass! You get what you pay for! As for sales of the console... Microsoft is giving away Halo 3 with every 360 purchase til the end of the year, not to mention the two bundled inside! In other words... cha-ching

@XB2B1 ... yah $50 aint much, but how are you going to compare a premium service to a free service. its apples and oranges dude. and the free halo 3 sounds nice, but its for one month and ONLY for original xbox user WITH a pre existing xbox live GOLD membership. So if you meet the criteria then yeah its a good deal. Also anybody who passes on free food is an idiot. I can think of millions of people in africa who would love to have some free food.

This year isn't Sony's anyway. Even if Sh!t Box does outsell PS3 this year, in 08 Sony will dominate again.
