Another British band getting the music game treatment?

Pink Floyd’s drummer, Nick Mason, told the BBC the band would consider inclusion on a Rock Band or Guitar Hero-style game, although largely for business reasons.

While we may someday see a reimagining of Pink Floyd’s work in a videogame, perhaps in the same manner as the recent The Beatles: Rock Band, don’t expect any new material from the band.

“We’re all still interested in the catalogue and trying to make the most of it, re-mastering when necessary, and looking at other things that we could do with it,” Mason said. “I think we’re all still very proud of it – we do talk to each other occasionally.”

Even though the drummer said the band would consider doing a Rock Band/Guitar Hero game, Mason said he is not completely behind music genre games. “It irritates me having watched my kids do it – if they spent as much time practicing the guitar as learning how to press the buttons they’d be damn good by now.”

In regards to a possible Pink Floyd game, he said, “I think everyone’s looking at new ways of selling the music because the business of selling records has almost disappeared.”

With so many bands taking part in the music genre games, bands like Pearl jam, Aerosmith, Metallica, and The Beatles, we wonder what other bands will consider making the avatar transition. It may not be too long before we see Rock Band or Guitar Hero eat-up bands like U2, Led Zeppelin, Elvis, or Bob Dylan for full games.

as much as i love Pink Floyd, I don't think I would buy the game.  Rock Band and Guitar Hero games got really boring after Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band 1 IMO.

i would love a pink floyd rock band.  pink floyd is the only band i like more then the beatles.  but i would only get it if it was rock band.  i hate activision and guitar hero.

on a side note, i highly HIGHLY doubt there will ever be a Led Zeppelin Game, or even a track pack for an existing game.  Zepplin are extremely protective of their music, its nearly impossible to even use one song in a movie.  they would never go along with one of these games, at least not while they're alive.  who knows what their estates will do once they die off in the next few decades.

Pink Floyd would be a great choice, but I I won't be buying anymore music games unless they change up the formula. They're old news now.

If you've got an original 60 gig PS3 you can get DSotM on SACD.

It was originally produced in the seventies to be appreciated quadraphonically.

Pink Floyd would be a good addition to rock band, but I agree with you guys. It seems like we get like 10 music games every year.

@2- Get off your high horse, you elitist punk. Casual games make devs and publishers money, and that's how a business is run.

No one will buy a Pink Floyd game because the majoriy of fans are real musicians, or are too old to be interested in a video game. That's how I see it.

One of the greatest bands of all time though, I would love to see a setlist if it ever happened.

For the love of God no U2, we dont need to give these hippies any more money, if they want to hug trees thats cool, but stop calling yourself rock n roll when you are pop.

Please don't call Pink Floyd pop music. They are a progressive rock band.
