Speaking this morning on the Jagger show, Dan Aykroyd confirmed that Ghostbusters: The Video Game has been picked up for publishing through Atari. The title, previously owned by Activision, was dropped shortly after the merger with World of Warcraft creator Blizzard Entertainment. While fans of the series are highly anticipating the release, Aykroyd has also stated that the title is around a year away from retail shelves.
There is speculation that the release of this title may coincide with the announcement or release of a new Ghostbusters film. These rumors have been circulating the internet, but seem to stall from being confirmed due to the fact that one of the original cast members is refusing to sign on for the movie. As more information is released surrounding this cult classic, we'll be sure to keep you up to date.

No, the one who isn't signing on for the movie or the game is Rick Moranis. This is because his wife recently passed away and he doesn't want to work for a while

It is Rick Moranis. Bill Murray voiced Venkman for the game, so why wouldn't he be up for another movie (aside from being 20 years older)?
And really... is not having Rick Moranis' character in the movie that big of a loss?

I read in an interview Bill Murray would only want to return as a ghost, nothing more. This may be whats keeping him away. But the Rick Moranis issue seems a little more feasable, and besides Murray may have changed his mind. I gather Murray believed that Ghostbusters faded with that generation and no longer had a following.

i thought this game was coming out this month,oh well it looks hot anyway.ghostbusters films was my fav as a kid ,i even wished for a gb3 to be made so never ever ruin this by making a new film with new chracters that will never fit the roles.keep the original cast or nothing at all and dont use cgi for godsake
