BBFC rates GTA IV as 18, no cuts made

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) announced today that it has issued Rockstar’s forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV with an 18 rating, confirming no cuts have been made to the final product.

“This work was passed with no cuts made,” the company said on its official website, confirming that the game will arrive on retail stores with all content intact.

Unsurprisingly, the listing revealed that the highly anticipated crime romp would contain an excessive amount of adult material, “including references to strong sexual behaviour.”

"During gameplay the character can pick up prostitutes... What follows is an un-detailed portrayal of masturbation, fellatio and intercourse. The character can also visit lap dancing clubs and request a private dance. While the game contains sexualised dancing and the portrayal of sex, there is no sexualised nudity,”

Grand Theft Auto IV is due out later this month on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Stay tuned for our review here at PSU in the near future.

    As if they would try to make cuts after the sh!te of Manhunt 2, i expect a low profile is company policy at the moment!

    no sh!t its gona b 18.....wats new ffs every gta has bein 18 and has had prostutes and gta:vice city had strip club.....its nothing new....mike u got nothig better to post u looser i culd of told u this lol

    I can already hear the politicians banging their war drums. While we may never see a AO game rating on the console, I could possible see it on the PC. I'm glad to hear that they didn't censor anythign either.

    @ webman69 and richkaos:  You don't have to be pricks.  The BBFC will always be looking at Rockstar's products with more scrutiny than others and passing with no cuts is a great thing, expecially after the Manhunt 2...problem.

    I can't believe that nothing was cut from GTA4 because of the BBFC because there have been several games that have been banned from Australia and other places in Europe, but never in the U.S.

     

    And GTA4 is less than a month away, I just can't believe it. I've had my copy of GTA4 pre-ordered since last July and finally it's almost here.

    i dont think it he was posting that it was 18......what he is saying is that there IS NOTHING CUT OUT, which means everything that R* wanted in, is in. Quit being stupid about it...

    Sweet... No nudity is kinda disipointing gosh if this was a movie all there would be is nudity why not in a game where it is fake anyways.... Can't wait though.  Great games.
