Voluptuous archaeologist Lara Croft makes a daring running-jump to the digital wonders of the PlayStation Network in this delightful downloadable co-op romp. Pairing our nimble heroine up with a chap named Totec, Guardian of Light blows the cobwebs off the fundamentals of Croft’s previous exploits, offering a gripping amalgamation of puzzle solving, baddie-bashing and fancy acrobatics. Everything you’d come to expect from a game featuring the aristocratic adventurer is here, albeit in bite-sized form. Players brave dusty tombs, ridding them of tenacious foes while putting their thinking caps on to navigate superbly designed environmental riddles. Combat and platforming elements are intuitive and ultimately highly challenging, making for a rewarding, diverse package. The co-op is the icing on the cake, offering some of the best teamwork you’ll likely to invest in on Sony’s online service. Ironically, while not strictly a Tomb Raider game by name, Guardian of Light is probably the best Croft outing in years — certainly miles more enjoyable than the underwhelming Underworld, that’s for sure.
