BioShock PS3 due out in October

2K Games has formally announced development of a PlayStation 3 version of BioShock, confirming that the title is currently slated for release in October 2008.

Speaking in an official press release, 2K President Christoph Hartmann commented, “Since BioShock for Xbox 360 and Games for Windows won countless 2007 Game of the Year awards, we are excited to see the impact of this stellar title for the PLAYSTATION 3 system when it debuts this fall.”

“Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms.”

News of a PS3 release of the critically acclaimed shooter materialised late last week, with rumours having circulated from as far back as late 2007. Until now, 2K Games has continuously denied any knowledge of a PS3 port.

    already own it for the 360 but will gladly rent it for the ps3 just to experience the new things.

    sounds good, ill probaly get this, dont have a xbox and along with gears of war this is one of that games i really enjoyed on it. now just have to bide my time until gears comes out for mac :)

    I will get this but I dont think that 2k should expect much out of it, reason I say that is because most ps3 owners have a pc as well or even a 360 and im sure that they got this game for either the 360 or the pc.

    psn id: gingo..... this game will now fail, with it coming out at the same time as resistance 2, littlebigplanet, alone in the dark and many other games i think many gamers will give this a miss because they see it as an old game

    Nice was gonna buy it for the PC or my 360 but if it has extra PS3 content for sure I'm gonna buy it on PS3 :D.

    Regardless of it being an old game or Sony exclusives releasing the same month, still a purchse for me. At least 2K is adding stuff to it to warrant a purchase from the ps3 only crowd, ya bunch of downers:)

    great news i do like the game on pc but runs a little slow on mine so should be nice playing at full speed atlast.

    looks like the ps3 version will be the superior one. it better not have graphics issues.

    a little to late to the party in that field, by that time it be way better titles 8]
