Summary
Despite being over a year old, Rapture shines through the dark sea like a lighthouse on a foggy night. 2K Games has delivered on its promise in providing PS3 owners with an equally impressive port as the original.
We like
- Visually mesmerizing
- Unique gameplay experience
- A story worth living
We dislike
- Framerate hitches
- Collision detection can prove frustrating

(continued from previous page) ...a fit of rage later on in Rapture. However, those of you who take advantage of the plasmid system will find that this helps balance things out a little, saving you both money and ammunition in the process.

Another exclusive element to the PlayStation that is not yet available is the Challenge Rooms. These rooms, which will be available through downloadable content next month, place you in new sections of Rapture where your goal is to rescue a Little Sister. One of the most impressive things about these Rooms is how interactive the environment is overall. A prime example of this is the carnival room where you can actually take part in certain mini-games to score more EVE (plasmid juice) or life vials.
Sadly, on the technical front, a number of glaring issues from the Xbox 360 version still remain very much in tact. Why these haven’t been corrected in a year old port escapes me, but it’s definitely not excusable. The occasional poor collision detection is still evident, and proves especially troublesome when you find an item on the ground that you can’t acquire. Another prominent issue from the 360 version is the slowdown in framerate. This is at its worst when the screen is occupied by a large number of enemies and numerous effects (such as explosions) are taking place, and can take a few seconds to repair, nullifying the immersion factor somewhat.

As mentioned previously, the art direction in particular is exquisite and provides the backdrop for Rapture’s unrivalled atmosphere, with subtle details such as rushing water and neo lights only adding to the overall immersive qualities of the game. Whether it’s the brooding, darker areas of the forgotten city or the bright lights that surround them, Rapture is quite simply a world you have to experience.
Rapture is a breathtaking world that should be shared and enjoyed by every self-respecting gamer out there. From the stunning visuals to the unique gameplay on offer, BioShock delivers something that not many other games can – an unforgettable experience. Hiccups aside, this is an absolute must have title for every PS3 owner out there.

I only played the PS3 demo & to be fair it isn't much to judge any game by.
But from what I have seen, its too confining for my tastes & the character feels as if he is wearing a deepsea diving suit,, when we know he isn't.
Maybe I will buy it some time when it goes platinum....but I don't think its for me (at the moment).

I tried the PC version and it was just a disaster due to crashing issues. Tried the PS3 demo and it was alright. Bioshock seems like another generic shooter to me though on the same lines as the Jedi Knight series. I never really understood why reviewers like it so much. I probably won't be getting it.

I played BioShock on PC last year, and i think it's peace of *hit. Linear, stupid FPS with unlimited enemies (but with limited bullets) and stupid story. Main disappointment of last year.

If you don't like this game there is something wrong with you. Maybe some people need to be reminded what it means to be a true gamer. I'll bet half of these nay sayers dont even know where bio shock got its roots!

Been playing this all day and I'm loving it, also bare in mind I've played this before on the 360, and before that on the PC. This version is slightly better than the previous ones, the only thing that annoys me is that some of the small issues I had with the 360 version are still here.

Playing it right now. It is a really good game; not MGS4 good, but good nevertheless.

I can't believe some of these clowns on here saying @10("worst game I've ever played"). Thats just sad. I beat this game back when it launched on the 360, and if it's as good as the 360 version, than it will be game that every ps3 owner should pick up. I can definately understand people saying Halo sucks, or is over-rated because I totally agree, but Bioshock is on another level. Its not generic like 90% of the shooters that flood the market. It just offers something different. I actually have never met anyone who didn't enjoy it.

This game is just not good, it's brilliant, every step of the way is amazing and the graphics are fantastic, the atmosphere created by dripping water and footsteps echoing down a corridoor are truly masterful and i can appreciate why this game won GOTY, as a gamer this has everything, go get it, if not rent a copy, you have to experience rapture one way or another.

What are you found in this game? It have no water phisics at all (and other phisics is worst), ugly textures (yea it's look's nice from distance), it's totaly linear (as I sad befor), and has respawning mob's. If you look at what they promised, and compare it with result, you'll understand, why is it total disappointment.

It sucks.
Actually, let me be more specific. The demo sucks. Maybe the full game is awesome; I don't know, but after finishing the demo, I have absolutely no idea why people like this game. Was this the best they could do on the 360 or something? Why were people drooling over this game? It's lame.
