Sales of Sony Corp’s Blu-ray format have reached the one million mark in Europe, accounting for approximately 73 per cent of the high definition market in the region ahead of the Toshiba-manufactured HD-DVD disc.
News comes following a statement issued by the Blu-ray Disc Association, in which the company also revealed that over 20 million software titles for Sony’s PlayStation 3 console had been shipped in European territories since launch.
Best selling titles on the next-generation movie format include Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Spider-Man 3 and 300.
