C&C team assures it is still "very interested" in PS3

Electronic Arts’ Jim Vessella has addressed concerns held by PlayStation 3 owners over the recent decision to put the PS3 version of Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 on hold, assuring fans that the firm is still “very interested” in the Sony platform.
Speaking with Videogamer.com, Vessella, Associate Producer on the C&C 3 expansion pack Kane’s Wrath, said that the studio remain “big fans” of the PS3, and plans to “give it the attention it deserves” in the near future.
When quizzed on the reason as to why there is no PS3 iteration of the upcoming Kane’s Wrath, Vessella commented: “The PS3, it would just be extra development time we didn't really have right now, so we could focus on the 360. And also specifically with Kane's Wrath, because we're building off of the foundation of Tiberium Wars it was just a natural transition to continue with the 360 exclusive development.”
“Although we are very interested in the PS3. We're big fans of the console. We're definitely moving forward on that front for hopefully our future titles,” he added.
“You'll have to talk to the Red Alert 3 team specifically about future plans for PS3 and also our future games going forward. So we're definitely looking at the PS3, but for Kane's Wrath, just not yet."
Despite this, Vessella remained confident in the developers future plans for the console, expressing its desire to “dive into the PS3” and “put care and heart into every version that we do.”
"I think that going forward in the near future we'll be able to really focus on getting really good PS3 versions," he said.
"And that's the other thing. We don't want to just port it over to the PS3 without giving any care as to what really makes that console successful. We really want to put care and heart into every version that we do. And so we really want to be able to dive into PS3 and give it the attention it deserves. We're really hoping that will happen pretty soon."

I want a damn C&C game already. I have't played one on any console since Command and Conquer for the Sega Saturn. Being in North America, I can't even download Europe's Playstation Stores' version of the game. I'd spend $6.00 or whatever for it. Give it to "US" too, get it? US....ahhhh good stuff

@dfontes1188 Spot on I will be doing the same, EA are like MS, money grabbing lazy ar5e holes. they all seem to forget that if it wasnt for the Playstation and its multi million user base over the last 14 years they wouldnt be where they are now. Xbox has been round 5 mins and they think the sun shines out its air vents. They make me sick.........just remeber which side your breads buttered!!!!

"We are interested in the PS3" doesn't mean crap. In this context, 'interested' is an extremely weak and fleeting word. Sounds to me like they are saying, "We are impressed by the PS3 hardware, and some of our developers own PS3s... but we won't develop for it."

wow sounds like a load of bs and damage control to me if you are such big fans of the ps3 why didnt you start coding on it first like a smart dev would do then you could ship both versions on the same day basically this is saying that the attention we deserve is a shoddy delayed port "care and heart into every version we do" LMAO yeah f*$#!n right! this is EA! what sorry excuses for devs

Thanks to this article, my contempt for ea has returned. Schit like this will continue to be the norm until we stop buying their products like sheep. And you people saying that you'll buy the pc version instead are not helping the ps3 side of things a bit. By now you guys should know why there's an exclusive ea-Sony event happening with madden. To win hearts and minds because they're getting a bit nervous with all the bad ps3 publicity. All this and still regardless of the fact that more ea revenue comes from the Sony platform than any other. Dispicable. Stop buying ea products dammit! Or at least buy it used where somebody else gets the sale rather than the publisher.

C&C is old hat stuff anyway.
I take it they would be more interested in doing something else for the PS3, my take on this is that we're doing PC and 360 games ATM because we are set up for that, but PS3 has no piracy and we're wanting a piece of that action but not with C&C theme.

Ihaven't bought EA stuff for just over 1.5 years now. But if you guys want to continue to do this, you have to be ready for the long haul. You have to be ready for the bad stuff, too. Boycotts are no joke. It always looks darkest before the company caves. Do your homework. My prediction? If we boycotted EA hard enough, Madden or Tiger Woods could become a 360 exclusive. Are you ready for everything that will mean? I am. But that will be a dark year for PS owners. If I were Sony, I'd make a 1st Party NFL game (which I think they can do, like MLB 08...Take Two has the cross platform license from the MLB, but companies can still make 1st party games like The Show). If I'm wrong, that will be huge. But whatever. EA must be stopped. Madden sales dropped by 13% last year. That's HUGE. They need another dent this year, but not just in madden sales. Like the guy said above, we are past the point of lip service. Please stop buying their crap. How many of you FPS zombies just got Battlefield: Bad Company? YOU are the problem.
