Publisher Activision announced today that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warefare has sold over one million copies in the United Kingdom in eight weeks.

Speaking to trade website MCV UK, David Tyler, Marketing Director for Activision commented: “We’re delighted with the performance of COD4.”

“It’s been exceptionally well received by both consumers and retail. It’s a great start to 2008 and we’re all looking forward to launching some amazing new titles in the forthcoming months.”

Developed by Infinity Ward and released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms, Call of Duty 4 marks the series first transition from a World War II setting to a more modern, contemporary field of war, featuring locations such as the Middle East and Russia.

That is good news, and dont get me wrong I do love this game but the only thing thats lacking is CO-OP campaign and I would like to have seen larger maps for splitscreen multiplayer, some are a little on the cramped side and finding your victim is all too quick and easy. Resistance maps for instance are huge and you get the optoin to cater for X ammount of players.

Who would have thought that a game released on three different platforms could sell so well. (Sarcasm)

Agree with gingo, give us our patch.

psn id: gingo.... @DARKBLADE1.... i already have an american account (gingo2) and i tried that but it didn't work so i tihnk it might be the console they release it on and not the account because that could break copyright laws if people from europe were getting an american update

Xbo360 it's sold them on more like, i don't think they sold a million worldwide on ps3 to be truthfull becaues in the worldwide chart on ps3 thats means every format cod4 doesn't make the top twenty on ps3 it's thirty something and the top sellers are cod4 on xbox360 and brain training, there's not a ps3 format game in the worldwide top twenty, poor poor software sales, ps3 must do well in the software market becaues at the moment it's poor very.

No this is all platfoms not just the PS3. COD:4 is an awesome game and it's getting the recognition R:FOM should have gotten in 2006!

The PS3 and Xbox versions were built side by side, its not a software issue, if you ask me, the PS3 version is slightly superior, after playing both, and online is just as strong, with the Xbox LIVE players with a little better support thats all.

Its an awsome game, just a shame the dreadful online servers let the online play down.

Meh I refuse to play this game until Europe and Australia get the patch.  I'm having way too many problems with online multiplayer to bother playing it

I don't like the fact that the servers are regionalize!!  So that means the US can't play against EU/AU and who know which other continent?!?!?

Can they fix this??  I bet Bob the Builder can!!! XD
