Call of Duty 4's best programmers on PS3

Finally, it appears as though a developer is taking the right approach when producing games for next-generation consoles. After almost a year of poor ports and all sorts of discussions about how multi-console games looked worse on the PS3, owners of Sony’s latest home console can breathe a sigh of relief.
Infinity Ward, the developers behind the highly acclaimed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warefare, admitted in an interview that they had their best coders working on the PS3 version of one of this holiday's most anticipated games.
"We had our best programmers on the PS3 [version of Call of Duty] and it shows," commented Infinity Ward studio head Vince Zampella.
This has also been part of the reason why Sony's version of the game has a bigger online capacity (24 maximum vs. the 360's maximum of eighteen) as well as better visuals on the PlayStation platform.
"We had two separate teams working on both versions from the start," Zampella says, adding, "Most developers only focus on a single platform, then quickly port the game over to another one. You don't get very good results that way".
This bit of information is reassuring, as hopefully more and more developers will start developing equally for both platforms and even feature the PlayStation 3 as the lead platform. Also interesting is that most of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare TV spots also exclusively promoted the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

What if Ubisoft took this approach with Assasin's Creed. As a great as the game is, after playing UDF, the game could have been MUCH better in terms of lighting, animations, framerates. I have a ton of respect for Infinity Ward because of how their multi-plat approach. They don't take shortcuts. True developers here people.

online worx fine for me, except it takes a while to get into a match. they need to upgrade their servers. ranking system is excellent, but it doesn't seem to want to save the name i give my custom classes, sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't , it's no big deal though doesn't affect the gameplay.

I do have to admit that COD4 on the PS3 does look sharp. When it released I was thought "yes, and then haze will give me even more braging rights!".....then WHACK...smacked with a delay

Not get me wonrg, its a BRILLIANT GAME and I love it too bits! I just wish they could have spent a little more time inproving their online setup for the game. I would of thought game makers would have looked at the brillant setup Resistance has, with its lobby and its party setup features. Its also great to be able to talk to your mates by typing with a keybaord OR using a headset in Resistance. In COD4 you can only use the head set.

PS3 owners should start buying games. A jump in software sales would be great. In a Universe of 5.000.000 console, R&C only sold 75.000. We won't go far if we don't change this.
If coD4 does not sell well on the PS3, why should they waste resources next time?

@Limanima:
If they start making good games, it will change. So far there really isnt anything out for the PS3 that is worth buying, Nothing but a buch of mediocre games with good graphics. The same rehashed gameplay as every other game for every other console, with better visuals.

Right now Im playing Call of Duty 4, and UT3...both are superb - not quite as good as Crysis - but nothing I've seen is. I am amazed at the current crop of games - they are absolutely fan-funcing-fantastico!
