Crisis Core: FFVII dated for North America

Posted on December 18th, 2007 at 09:38 EDT

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is already in the hands of the Japanese public, where the game saw great success as well as help enhance the PSP’s status in the country.

Now, in a company press release which highlights upcoming titles due out in early 2008, Crisis Core has finally been given a North American release date, with the game due to arrive on March 25, 2008.

While it was not listed in the press release, North Americans should not be surprised if Sony decides to release a limited collector’s edition PSP bundled with Crisis Core, similar to what SCEJ did back in September. So now you have a date, so make sure you set aside the proper amount of funds so that when the time comes, you’ll be enjoying the experience with many others.

Crisis Core is a prequel to the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy VII, in which the story follows a character by the name of Zack, a mercenary and fellow combat buddy of FFVII protagonist, Cloud Strife. In this action RPG, Zack must journey through vast locations, battle the odds, and set the story for is later to come in Final Fantasy VII.

A release date for European territories has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for more information at PSU as it becomes available.

Better late than never.  I hope a limited edition FFVII:CC PSP does come out (world-wide) like it did in Japan, but I'd like to see it in a shiny black form etched with the FF logo on it!  I'd probably would purchase that version!

As for Final Fantasy XIII, it's been listed to be released in late May 2008!  I'm assuming, if this is a real release date, it's only for Japan?!?

I'm guessing the US will get it about 6months after that!  And who knows when the rest will finally get it??? Probably in 2009!!!

Just in time for my birthday!

@blachaze : If you think so little of RPG's, then why waste time commenting here?

Well, RPGs can be fun once in while, but unless they're something groundbreaking, I won't be playing them all the time... and seriously... FF XIII !! And then there's 13 Versus... and 7 Crisis Core... Man... Japan is really digging RPGs over there!

I don't think the Special Edition PSP is coming to North America. For one it a "Special Edition", witch would not be if Sony mass produced it. Only bout 700 of those were made I believe and to make more, than it wouldn't be so Special. I'm hoping though but I just don't think it's going happen. If Sony would to relaese a Collectors Edition for both US and UK that is diffrent from the Japanese version, like say a diffrent color, than yeah it would be diffrent all together. Each territory should get there own unique Crises Core PSP, that way it would remain limited.

Definitely see a limited edition for Core to come out so the hungry Square fans will go nuts for hehe. They need more games like this on the PSP anyway.

FInally it's about friggin time.

Also: I like how blachaze's singular dislike for RPGs suddnly makes them all borring... OH WAIT... it DOSENT. RPGs have been some of the highest selling games in the past 5 years so I'd say you're firmly set in the minority and thus have no valid opinion to offer. But have a nice day anyway.

Don't bother listening to people who find RPG's boring, sometimes people like the idea of shoot first then think about how much you suck at management later.

@cOwpander.....there were 77,777 "limited edition" FFVII:CC PSP's released in Japan (which are supposedly sold out) and the same amount for Star Wars when that was released for the US only!

Europe and the rest only has a questionable yellow Simpsons and a Europe (only, so far) Spider-Man Red aswell.

So, I think that there is a possibility US will get a special edition as it is FFVII's 10th Anniversary! I just hope we get one down under aswell (in BLACK edition!)

In addition, Japan is getting a limited edition Star Ocean PSP later this month!!!
