Square Enix has published its financial results for the period April 1 to September 30 2008, revealing that PlayStation Portable title Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - arguably the greatest of the Final Fantasy VII spin-offs - is nearing two million sales worldwide in total.
Zack Fair's action-RPG jaunt in franchise backstory heaven is the publisher's second most popular product for the period, with only Dragon Quest V on DS pipping it in sales.
Square Enix total game sales in Japan have, however, dropped dramatically from the same period last year, but the publisher is enjoying slight increases in Europe and Asia. Worldwide, unit sales are down from 6,920,000 to 4,980,000 - better get Final Fantasy XIII out the door sharpish, chaps.

Not surprising considering no NEW new Dragon Quests or Final Fantasies were released. Next year will be a lot better, since the combined sales of Dragon Quest IX & FFXIII will probably be 5-6 million units in Japan alone, not to even mention the millions they'll sell elsewhere, if released outside Japan in 2009..

They need to stop wasting time and resources on 360 RPG's when in Japan alone they'd sell more PS3 RPG's than 360 Asia and North America combined.

Wow, well... the game deserves it. I could've sworn it was nearing two million shipped.
