Hajime Tabata, the Director of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII has said that the probability of a remake of the original Final Fantasy VII would increase if the development schedule of those involved in the 1997 classic would clear up.
When asked on the possibility of a remake appearing on the PlayStation 3, Tabata told the Official PlayStation Magazine: "The possiblity for a remake may become greater if, for instance, the schedules of the original members of the Final Fantasy VII development team, such as Kitase and Nomura, open up."
A FFVII remake has been the hot topic of debate for some time now, following the showcase of a tech demo of the game running off of PS3 hardware at Sony’s E3 2005 press conference.
Despite this, Square Enix has yet to commit to development of the title.

I hope for a FFVII remake on PS3. That would totally boost PS3 sales much further as it did with the psp.

Well, I guess that means development (If it does ever happen) won't happen until Versus XIII is completed. Damn.

I've heard them talking about this for a while now... But the more they talk the more i want it.... FFVII will be awsome on the PS3. And personally FFVII is still the best of them all. It was actually the first game (well that and Resident Evil Director's Cut) that bought and played on my PS0ne.... Ah brings back so many memories...
So yeah if it does become a reality i will jump at the oppertunity to play it again...

FFVII was not my favorite of the series but I love them all the same. I would love to see a remake however, this topic has been kicked around since early PS2 days. Mark my words though, if we do get it.... This game will move systems and be one more nail in crashbox's coffin

I would kill!!! for this remake, as a matter of fact I am currently replaying ff7 original on my p3. Im not sure about most people but I like the old school active/timed battles better than say ff12 battle system.

I personally DON'T think they should remake, just republish the original version. The original was amazing, and the look and feel of the entire thing was just indescribable. People who never played the original will never be able to truly feel that if they redo everything. I loved FFVII, but they would change it all with a remake. I don't understand why no one has thought of the fact that remaking would wreck half of what made it so amazing

@14 I agree. Just republish the original. Maybe just touch up and smooth up the 3-D characters and backgrounds during battle. And remake the FMV sequences. That is one of the few PS1 games I could still go back and play from beginning to end. Anyone who hasn't tried this hasn't lived.

Even if we do get a remake, isn't everyone just going to want another?

@ princevegeta1980 ... nope, not all FF fans. I would much rather have a remake of FF8 on the PS3 than FF7. Mind you, I would still buy it if it does come out, but FF7 is over hyped....FF8 was better imo. And if they were to make a FF7 remake....I will sure to be pissing and moaning for a FF8 remake.

I'm playing FF7 on my ps3. It was the greatest RPG of all time. I want a remake. but, it has to have to same game play as original. Just like stickemup said, smooth out everything like they did in the demo and it will make all FF fans happy.

Well the release of the new FF's are taking time away for development. This is directed only the the massive hype fullment of the tech video. Has anyone even considered what might be changed/unchanged if this game is made? Ruin a classic or surpass it on all fronts? Got to think about this when remakes are made.

Let's see Square, has 10 teams (about 3000 workers), 2 of which are working exclusively on certain things (tri-Ace and wireless games). The ability to get the main people back in an open schedule would be extremely hard 'cause there's plenty of franchises that Square has (Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Valkyrie Profile, Kingdom Hearts). No matter how bad we want a FFVII remake, it's not likely to happen, but if you want to see the FFVII Technical Demo go to youtube and try to find my file (frov14)

14 and 16. We have already tried and passed FF7. That is why we want a next gen remake. To truly relive the experience with the power of the PS3. You will be able to notice things you weren't able to notice on the original. Things the psone wasn't strong enough to do.
