Electronic Arts announced today that its forthcoming Survival Horror title, Dead Space, would be released in North America and Europe on October 31, 2008 - aka, Halloween.
Dead Space pits players in the shoes of a futuristic space engineer named Issac Clarke, who is a member of the organisation the Concordance Extraction Corporation (CEC) Having been assigned the task of locating a missing vessel in the midst of outer space, Clarke soon finds himself fighting for survival against a race of alien creatures known as Necromorphs in the darkened corridors of the lost craft.
The game’s Executive Producer, Glen Schofield, commented, "Survival horror is about experiencing a terrifying, and deeply personal fiction.”
“Dead Space is being developed as a single-player thriller that delivers the chilling, claustrophobic feeling of being isolated in a dark environment, while being stalked by some truly horrific enemies. Halloween is the perfect time for EA to deliver the fear and anxiety that will keep survival horror fans up playing all night."
Dead Space will be EA’s first attempt at a Survival Horror title, a genre that has been widely popularised by Capcom’s Resident Evil series.
The game will be available for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.

Dead Space Dev Diary
1) Who cares about being first?and 2) What was the last good one player game made by EA? James Bond Everything or Nothing maybe.Damn that was a while ago!
So just because you haven't been into any of the one player games they have made means it's crap?? ... or did i read that wrong?
I'm not a fan of EA (I hate what they do when they buy up other companies, like Bullfrog), but this game does have potential. And even if it is a first for EA, it's not like System Shock II never came out for them to "borrow from"... so hopefully it will be really good. :-)
No,Soraz I have always bee a fan of EA. I have the EA genesis collection for the psp.I play their games. They have sucked lately. If you have a good 1 player EA game that has come out since 2004. Take your time.
No one in my country celebrates halloween :( If you went trick or treat, you would get about a dime, or a "Halloween sucks!"..... Bummer....
psn id: gingo.... good idea releasing this type of game on halloween but i dont care cause EA are making it
Dead Space is actually a game that I'm looking forward too. However, when I found out that it was going to be developed by EA a month or so ago, I was almost instantly turned off. I think that Dead Space is a make-or-break moment for EA games when it comes to non-sports games.
I would have preferred if this type of game was developed by Konami.
I've read a lot about this game in the gaming magazines (EGM, Official Playstation)and I REALLY REALLY like every thing that I've read. There's not supposed to be any in-game huds such as a health meter and there's not going to be a pause menu. For instance, if you want to take something to increase your health, the entire game doesn't "pause" because everything is done in-game. So if you are fighting an enemy and you are about to die you can't just pause the game and stop the action just to equip a weapon or pause the game to take a health power-up.
Also, the characters health is determined by looking at his body suit. When he is in good health, there is a part of the body suit that will glow green and as you take hits or get hurt the green will gradually diminish or change to a different color. I like games that have hardly any in-game huds such as The Getaway and Killzone because you feel more into the action and it just feels more real and realistic.
I really like the concept that they are employing in the game because it never takes you out of the action and it makes it more realistic. If you were fighting enemies in real life, you can't just pause the action because everything is done in real time and the same thing is going to be in this game.
I hope that EA does a really good job on this game because I am actually pumped up for this game. Please EA don't screw this up.
I can't wait for this game. Trust me when I tell you it IS going to be an awsome game.
i aint that bothered about this game. dont even sound scary
I think that this will be a game that will have a good franshise(everyone likes resident evil 4) i think that a lot of people will like this one the new alone in the dark looks good)survival horror games are the best so long for the shooter year 07''i think that people only cares about FPS, there are better genres like this one and RPGs''if it wasn't for the online on shooters ithey will be the finish and gather dust games
This game sounded great until I found out about the "no pausing" part of it. I'd rather go scare kids on Halloween.
This could be good,EA hardly ever messes up first impressions,it's when they start milking the name,is when it sux.
