British Hard Rock band Def Leppard will be appearing in the next instalment of the popular Guitar Hero franchise, according to Internet reports.

News comes following an interview with the group on Rockline, where a fan called in to ask the band why any of their compositions have yet to feature in Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

Def Leppard’s guitarist, Phil Collen, responded by stating there would be at least three songs by the group to feature in Activision’s upcoming Guitar Hero IV, due out later this year.

So far, the confirmed songs to appear are:

-Photograph
-Animal
-Rock of Ages

A recording of the interview has now surfaced, confirming the reports as true. Collen was quoted  saying, "We just had to clear a few things like publishing, record company, and all that stuff. But we're going to have, like, three songs, I think, on Guitar Hero IV."

"And to counter these unappealing songs, Sony is putting the entire discography of viking metal band Amon Amarth into GH4."

Seems fair to me.  They're just running out of songs now.  They need a purely metal edition.  That would sell.

fun... I enjoy the complaints. Some people really just don't understand this game is for the general public not supposed to go after one type of music ex: Metal or Punk. They want this to sell as much as they can. As for Aerosmith I have no clue why they would do that not everyone likes them but I guess a lot more people like them then other bands.

Now that pisses me off.  I love Def Leppard...one of my all time favorite bands.

But Rock Band is 10x the game that Guitar Hero is....so I really wasn't planning on buying the next Guitar Hero...now I'll have to reconsider--but I probably still won't.

no matter what comes out I wont get this game, the only way I would is if they let us use guitar hero guitar on rockband. Till then im not interested but I would like to see real music in rock band you know ozzy, rob zombie, Marlyn Manson, deftones, Korn, newer rock would be good. I would even take 3 doors down. LOL
