EA cans FPS Command and Conquer: Tiberium

Electronic Arts announced today that development of FPS Command and Conquer: Tiberium has been cancelled.

According to a statement by EA’s Senior Corporate Communications Manager, Mariam Saghayer, the squad-based shooter was "not on track to meet the high quality standards set by the team and by the EA Games Label".

The publisher added that “some individuals” at EA Los Angeles would be released following the game’s cancellation, though added it will "make every effort to place talented people on other projects".

Tiberium was unveiled back in December last year, with a tentative release date of fall 2008. However, the game was later pushed back into EA’s fiscal year 2010.

Furthermore, speaking in an internal memo issued to Kotaku, EA LA’s Mike Verdu revealed that the title had “fundamental design challenges from the start. We fought to correct the issues, but we were not successful; the game just isn’t coming together well enough to meet our own quality expectations as well as those of our consumers".
