Electronic Arts has revealed details on its patch for the PlayStation 3 version of The Orange Box.
Although the patch itself was released a few days ago, the company neglected to divulge exactly what it would contribute to the game, which as endured numerous complaints from consumers since its release late last year.
However, EA has now gone on record to state that the patch should address the following issues:
· Fixed a graphical issue whereby a player would have the explosion effect left on the end of their Rocket Launcher when attempting to Rocket Jump.
· Fixed a memory leak to improve single player stability.
· Fixed an issue whereby the players name would not appear on the Stats comparison screen.
· We have fixed an issue that would cause the vote tallies to disappear when you viewed the scoreboard between rounds.
· Fixed an online server issue.
· Fixed an issue that caused a crash when a player that wasn't in Division 1 entered 'Your Leaderboards.
· Fixed an issue with players not always being added to the 'Players Met' menu on the XMB.
· Fixed a bug where a player viewing a friend without an EA account would have an empty entry in the friend's Leaderboard.
· Fixed an issue where it was not possible to connect to the EA servers if you had more than 30 friends.

So, it's not the PS3 after all, isn't it, Valve/EA/whatever ?
yep, it's them, those lazy-a** programmers, if it wasn't for us, the owners of the game, filling up their forums they wouldn't have made this patch...
What about EU patch? it seems patch is out in US only....
Its been a EA problem not a PS3 problem for some time now. I haven't purchased any EA published games for my PS3. I don't plan to for some time.
Kudos for them actually patching it.
At this point, any PS3 owner (or anyone, for that matter) that buys EA is contributing to the downfall of console gaming. They are destroying everything that makes this hobby cool. Period. As much as I like their football game and Tiger Woods, I will never support them again. We are not alone, sales for Madden last year dropped 13%! That's huge! They are getting the message, but I want to hurt them for real.
well it seem that EA still can't make a patch to fix the most important problem with this game. that being, this game suck !!!!!!!!! i truly feel sorry for anyone that got this game. Actually, no i don't, if you bought this game knowing what was said by the head of valve, the you deserve this crap.
We all Knew it was programming. I personally have not had much touble with my burnout which leads me to believe some people can o things right.
Some people just AMAZE me. You still complain about EA and how horrible they are, right after they release a patch to fix the problems people have. It was Valves terrible code base that made this game mediocre on the ps3, EA was just trying to salvage the port. And let me guess, you would complain about EA if they didn't release the patch, yet complain when they do, is there any pleasing you people? A lot of devs just leave their product junk on the PS3, like FEAR and UT3. At least EA is doing something about it. I am glad I bought this game, as it only shows EA that the PS3 has an install base that is willing to buy games, thereby justifying producing anything for our console. You should all be thankful for EA.
this patch does nothing to address the reasons people wanted a patch in the first place. the terrible loading times and the the framerate drops are not helped one bit by this. c'mon ea/valve, get on the ball.
@Soviet Idiot:
I should be thankful for EA trying (and I mean TRYING) to charge me $60 for a slow (30fps) roster update/online fee (Madden)? Sorry. And I didn't complain one bit about the Orange Box. Wanna know why? Because I was smart enough NOT TO BUY IT! Oh, and thanks for encouraging EA's BS buy giving them your money, again.
damn all my playing of the orange box and i have not saw any major problems a few hic ups here and there???? 60 was well worth it!!!
wow. so many mixed opinions here. I didn't buy this game. If there was problems, at least it appears that they are fixing them. I don't think EA is damaging this hobby. I have SKATE, and that game is sick. I have Burnout Paradise, and that game is sweet. All I say is, if they make a game and find out it has problems, then they need to fix it. Sounds like that's what they're doing.
Don't care!! I don't buy games that were developed by Valve.
I dont really care about EA though but i do care is valve because EA is too lazy to develope games.Amen
I'll have to grab it then.
I really want to play Portal but I refuse to play EA's/vALVE's game of piss-poor programming. EA wouldn't have to go multiplatform if they could do it right the first time.
