Evolution: Still time to influence MotorStorm 2

Evolution Studios’ Nigel Kershaw has said that it is “never to late” for fans to influence development of the forthcoming racing sequel, MotorStorm Pacific Rift.
Kershaw suggested that fans visit the company’s official website to share any ideas and suggestions they may have for the game, which takes place on a remote pacific island abundant with lush vegetation and natural hazards.
As an example of how user feedback can influence game design, Kershaw said that the split screen mode in Pacific Rift was a direct result of input from the MotorStorm community.
"If you've got something that bothers you in the game, then let us know. Things like split screen are in there because people really wanted it. That's what we want to do. You listen to people and act on it,” he told Videogamer.com
"It's (MotorStorm Pacific Rift) getting there but it's never too late. If someone's got a great idea we want them to share it with us."
PSU recommends our readers leave their feedback and suggestions in the comments section, as we will be submitting this article to Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) in the near future.
MotorStorm Pacific Rift is due out for PS3 this Autumn.

I'd love to have some character customization. Faces, hairs, helms, clothing, protections, etc. Also, it would be a cool idea to have clan support, where each clan has its private lobby, announcements, achievement list, high scores, and the members can wear the clan's logo either in the helm, shoulder, back or anywhere they want!
If this little proposition is heard I'd be drooling as I'd love this to happen! -

The ability to lay traps. Hear me out:
During a race, a crate of some sort will be randomly generated somewhere on the track. Only one crate will spawn at a time, but once the crate is "taken" (by driving over it) a new one will spawn after ten to fifteen seconds. The player who drove over the crate will then have a "weapon", rather a trap, which can be anything from a land-mine, an oil slick, etc. that they can deploy strategically. And it is persistent (except the land mine, since it will explode after it's "triggered'), meaning an oil slick will remain until the end of the race, for example. For something unique, I think a trap that deploys some sort of material... gravel maybe... that gives better traction. A strategic place to put it would be at a really slippery curve, where players will typically drift through to complete without crashing. Well, a strategically placed "gravel patch" will give the drifting player a sudden surge of traction that makes the car drive toward the direction it's facing (during a drift, a car will be perpendicular to the track, facing the inside of the turn) and off a cliff, for example.
Just figured it would be fun.

Other than what has already been said (split-screen online (maybe on 2 players when online from one console), customisation etc)
I would just hope that the loading time is improved. I'm glad they attempted by adding a quicker 2D version in the original, but it only worked online, the vehicals were too small to differentiate between them, and it was still slow!

I'd love to be able to create my own custom artwork for vehicles in photoshop and then be able to apply it to them.

c0ck pit view!! and a winshield wiper to wipe the screen clear. Last time, mud covered the screen, and I either had to wait for it to dissepate, or go from third back to first person view, and that was less immersive and downright annoying. I can't race in 3rd person. it looked uglier and slower, quite honestly =P
but yeah, that's my suggestion for now, and it better be in there! lol. I'll get it just for the multiplayer, honestly, but yeah.. something to interactively wipe the screen clear would be awesome. Be it a hand [for the bikers], or a winshield wiper for the other vehicles.
I'll come back with another idea after I get home from college. [yes.. I check psu in my break time lol]

Make the vehicles more interactive. Like what a previous poster said, functional windsheild wipers for wiping mud off the windsheild or even the game screen itself. Also working headlights for night racing and any other low lighted areas.
And please more WRC, Dakar, and SCCA inspired Rally Cars. I've had enough with hot rods, muscle cars, and any other form of Mad-Max style of vehicles.
The ability to make online clans - only call them racing teams to go along with the motorsport motif. Have the ability for teams to make their very own racing team graphic to stick on each member's vehicle.
Since this takes place on an island, how about making all (or at least some of) the tracks interconnected? That way you could have a greater combination of courses to race on - especially for those who demand longer tracks or checkpoint races. And while you're at it, make all tracks reversible too! Mirroring them just doesn't cut it anymore

the water physics are nice, but i think that when the water follows the tire, it should dip a lot more. Whilst that happens, the water first hitting the car as it pluggs through should fight up towards the top of the tire.
All I'm seeing with the water physics now, for visual sake, is it showing some waving, and splasing particles, but the water itself seems to stick to the vehicle, when it should be fighting against it. It's a nip pick, but I think it should be fixed, if they're focusing so much on water.again, physics and splashes are nice, but the water needs to dip and rise in the respected spots to be believable.

a 2 player option would be great, so u could play just u and a friend online that has been what ive wanted for a long time cus i really dont care about playin with 8 people online, dont get me wrong it is great an all but sumtimes i just wanna play with ONE friend online so MOTORSTORM 2 would be awsome if it had that option (2 player) and i would definatly buy it then but it would hav to be sum1 starts a race an then chooses from a list of people online who he wants to race with

The idea of inter connected tracks are cool, there could maybe even be a free roam if there is a lot of different tracks conncected. Agree with the windscreen wiper idea and of course the water (perhaps it's like that because it's pre alpha).I would also find coustom paint jobs really cool, (that we make ourselves, not that we pay for.)

Sorry if I repeat anything..
- Faster load times
- Ability to customize vehicle for online play
- Friend list/system, if In-game XMB is not released by then
- More destructables (buildings, signs, etc)
- Even better crashes? More detail maybe.
- Longer slow motion crash cam, but still have the ability to exit it
- Keep the variety of short cuts and roads, really liked that about the game
*Edit
- Unlockables for online play, keeps people playing
- Ranking sytem, and maybe tournaments once in a while -

One more thing I forgot to mention....a replay system is a must; if not that then a spectator mode for online races. Make the viewpoints very customizable too, close to what Driver had with is film directior replay feature. There were some races in the first Motorstorm that I would've loved to make a little replay movie of had the features been in there.
