FFXIII will be best FF game ever, says Square

Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase has boldly claimed that the hotly anticipated RPG will be the ‘best’ entry in the venerable franchise to date.
"I'm convinced it will be the best Final Fantasy game,” Kitase told VideoGamer.com while promoting upcoming handheld brawler Dissidia: Final Fantasy in London this week.
Kitase went on to reflect on his involvement with the series, commencing with Final Fantasy 5 and moving on to the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy VII, of which he served as director on. In fact, Kitase let slip that he considers spiky pretty boy Cloud Strife as his favourite character in the series thus far.
"I've been involved with the Final Fantasy series since Final Fantasy 5,” he said. “In those days Final Fantasy had not recorded such remarkable success abroad, outside Japan. Probably after VII, maybe it became a really strong title globally, and that situation hasn't changed up to now. Now other Final Fantasy games are widely played globally by lots of people.”
"OK sometimes we receive quite critical comments from players, as well as nice comments! But that kind of situation, how widely it is played across the world, would have been completely unimaginable. That is something I am very proud of."

LOL... no do not go there, especially not playing as a women :P.
Cloud wont ever be surpassed. Why? because he was the underdog that came out on top. Sides FF7 is just great. Love the optimism though Mike Harradance :)

They said XIII wont have a main character. There will be parts in the game where your team gets seperated and each character goes on there own path, plus gameplay wise they said any character can be controlled.

The Title is missleader it says "best final fantasy game ever!" but the guy they are interviewing says
"the hotly anticipated RPG will be the ‘best’ entry in the venerable franchise to date."so thats not best ff ever thats best ff so far but we will see , IX was pretty incredable,

True and i'm sure that the plot will focus around 1 character more then another but if you have ever played FFVI (many regard that as the best in the series)
That had some of the best characters and character development in the series and there wasn't really a main to that either, plus large parts of the games were played with the main band of characters seperated from each other and then going on there own adventure. Then eventually the story in the game bought all the characters in the game back together and it was excuted to perfection.

@14 yeh played all of em :P, I liked to think Locke was main character and terra the lady i was to protect :) even though like you said it revolved around different storys/charc's. I think people like to grab onto a stable ground on what to base story. Too many storys/chars can lose the plot a bit. It just seems strange to do it in todays games with so many critics about. Some people may argue you wont know what hel is going on lol. I guess nobody will know untill the game is on the shelf

Cloud's crown? there's no such thing! Each Final Fantasy is great in its own way. In my opinion, Final Fantasy X beats 7 but that doesn't make it a better game. Anyways ... I had the feeling that FFXIII will truly be the greatest Final Fantasy overall, and will see a huge success that could make it on par with Call of Duty. Also, I think it will get numerous new fans including anti FF gamers, thanks to the all new battle system.

They've disapointed many ps3 owners by releasing this game on to the 360 and the reason for that, yeah, they do have to make up for it, this game has to make up for it to be the best work they have done through out the their years of making previous ff series to date.
This has got to be it. Remember, its on both next-gen consoles, the XBOX 360 & the PlayStation 3. We've been waiting so long since 2001-2002.
They can't cover up mistakes, we want to feel that ff magic again and
they better deliver it with all they got, I'm serious. -

Strange and sad, but most people say that something will be best before it is presented, when they are not sure themselves about it. So far the visual side, shown in demo is most disappointing, when you consider how groundbreaking (in graphics) were FFVII on PSX and FFX on PS2. There were hardly better looking games available on the systems at that time, but now (so far and based on the demo) I can say Uncharted eats Final Fantasy alive, not even mentioning MGS4 or Killzone 2 and they are tech dependable action games, not a RPG that can be presented slower and with more graphical goodness. So to match the scale and grandure of predecessors, this game should at least utilise full Blu-Ray disk, or even 2 disc, an that means minimum 6 DVDs for X360, and since this is unlikely to happend, I dare to speculate cuts in terrain diversity or cuts in HD quality 1080p cinematics with 7.1 sound etc. So It may be the other way around - we may be looking at the most disappointing entry in the series... Only hope the artstyle/design will cover the technical gaps.

highly unintelligent statement. FFVII was a game made over 10years ago, surely by now it can easily be outdone. get over your Cloud/Sephiroth fanboyism youve had for a decade and realize that if FINAL FANTASY XIII is done right, it will easily be the best in the series

I have my doubts that this will be best in series, but I have my hopes. The series feels like it's been in a slump since FFX, unfortunately XI and XII didn't do much to revive the series. So I really hope this or VS will be the game to refresh and revitalize the series.
Visuals may not be the best in contrast to the latest title entries for the PS3, but if this game delivers a riveting story with good humor, romance, tragedy, and suspense it could overcome the visuals (which aren't bad) and be Squenix's ace. A great FF game or RPG for that matter is the kind that has you at the edge of your seat, making you want to rush through the monster slaughter just to find out what happens next.

hmm.. hard to speculate. Im replaying FVII at the moment and sure it is a great game, but times have changed. I remember playing it for the first time about 10 years or so ago and i loved it, and im speaking for myself now; i think the final fantasy audience is getting older.
I have just played the part where cloud dresses up as a woman to get into don corneo's (i think thats his name) place, (i know its only a little bit of fun and doesnt detract from the story in anyway-well not really) and if they did make a remake (like everyone is crying out for), i know they wouldn't include the little bits like these (among other stuff- the snow boarding for example). Then all those wanting a remake will be saying "its not the same", "theres something missing". Audiences have changed and developers have to target these audiences to make money.
FFVII should be kept as FFVII- the way we remembered it- a brilliant game for its time, with a great story and characters we will never forget. its an important memory from my childhood and i'd rather not have it ruined by a remake.
Sorry, I have digressed, as for XIII being the best FF i dont know. I'm not particulary bothered whether it is the best or not, but i do hope it is brilliant nonetheless! As im sure everyone does :)

Well Who knows is it takes the crown not sure doubt it though since People have come to love Cloud for a bit too long now i doubt it that people would change there opinions. But who know. I want this game to do good.. Who knows...

... dunno why alot of people like FF XII so much. I can see the hype for XIII tho. Personnally, I hope it fails. I really loved FFVII, FFVIII and FFX, played a bit of FFIX but got bored. Same for XII. It's boring. I speak for myself tho. I think XII is boring because we follow a 15yrs old with a kiddy attitude. He's so young he doesnt even know what booby means.
At some point the princess is there... ASKING to be cheered up BUT NO. God da m n D I m Wi T VAN doesnt move and just goes away. HE HAD TO GET HER HARD lol :P neway, the fact that there is no love interest bores me. I don't really care about the condition of whatever fictive kingdom if there isnt really some1 i want to save in it. :P
Now back to FFXIII. :D I can't wait to see if what that dood says is right. But it won't change from the fact i'll pick this game from the PRE-USED bin since they gave me a 1 year delay because of the 3 s h i t t y. Ill probably pre-order Versus XIII tho :D lol ( i hope no 360 owner buys it or i hope the game causes so many RROD that they all want money back and square cries a river)
