FIFA 09 bags UK Christmas number one

Electronic Arts’ FIFA 09 has dethroned Call of Duty: World at War from the top of the UK Charts this week, bagging the mega publisher its sixth UK Christmas number one hit in eight years.
Retailer promotions for the popular soccer title boosted sales by a massive 89 percent, pushing Activision’s WWII-based shooter down to number two after five weeks at the top spot.
As ever, Nintendo occupies a substantial chunk of the top ten, with the ubiquitous Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training and Mario Kart Wii refusing to budge after months clogging up the British charts.

are you blind? id say around 100million people in europe play football, and fifa 09 is the best football game around, so it adds up doesnt it?(and yes you are right, its called football.)

Not a single ps3 exclusive in the top 10. That's a bit sad. But Fifa being top is totAlly predictable. Can't stand football myself.

@1..ITS called football ok... only americans talk about soccer ..and call a game played mostly with running a ball in your hand football.. @2 AND 5 .. well besides olympics fifa world cup is the biggest sporting event televized... football is great and fifa 09 is just as good and i can see why it would be on top..
