Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has been labelled ‘Most Valuable Person’ during the 2008 Famitsu Awards in Tokyo today.
According to Developmag, the award recognises 'the person who has contributed to the growth of the games industry, not limited to developers'. The celebrations don’t stop there, either. Kojima Productions also snapped up the award for Best Character of the Year, which went to Metal Gear Solid 4’s Old Snake.
Elsewhere, Capcom scooped up Game Company of the Year, while the publisher’s mammoth selling Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G title earned Best Seller Grand Prize.

Kojima-sama earned the award Metal Gear is a sires ever self proclaimed hardcore gamer must play. @2legendaryaim i disagree with you i dont know your age but WiiFit and WiiPlay is classic Nintendo from way back to the NintendoPad. another thing both of those games not ruining gaming they bring more people into gaming its not all about being respawed in a then killed before you moved.

Congratulation Kojima-San. Very very very well deserved. Absolutly fall in love with your games. Just to think I stumbled onto Metal Gear Solid thru a "Pizza Hut" demo promotion, basically on accident. I played the demo a few times before I realized what i truly was about to experience. I have been hooked since. Thank you for you patronage to the gaming industry and your full on support to Sony and the Playstation Brand :D

kojima is awesome, hopefully he decides to remake MGS1 on the ps3 engine before he makes 5. it couldn't be that hard to remake the game when you already have the blue prints in your hands. do it kojima!! he deserves this award. i can't wait for his next game.

@26, I have played all the MGS games but I must say, I don't consider him the most valuable person. Come on now, that is some pity stuff that is going on here. He makes great games but I would rather have more good games then 1 great game every few years. I consider other developers and companies out their that far outway this guy. Yes, I like the MGS games but they aren't everything that I have been asking for in video games.
put it this way, if I want to watch a movie, i sure will not spend $60.00 on a MGS game until I know for sure that there will be a lot more gameplay then video's. I bought a PS3 for one thing, video games. I really enjoyed MGS for PS3 but i wish there was a lot more gameplay to it then what there was when I played it. A LOT will disagree with me but since I'm not a sheep I will say this, MGS for what it was should have been under $60.00, there I said it :P
