Kotaku has been bothering Hollywood director Ari Arad for news of his latest project, a film adaptation of the PlayStation 3 classic, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. No casting details are available yet, we're afraid, but Arad had plenty to say about Naughty Dog's cinematic action adventure.
"The best thing about Drake is he's not an archeologist,” he said. “He's not a benevolent guy, but he's certainly not a great guy. Indiana Jones was always a good guy and he relentlessly did the right thing. Drake is a guy who's being hauled over to virtue throughout the game."
Arad plans to "mix things up a bit" when it comes to the film, chiefly by filling in the picture prior to Drake's journey to the island. He's also keen to get viewers thinking about modern-day South American piracy, which Naughty Dog had already researched in creating the game.
Plenty more after the link, but watch out for spoilers.

As long as they don't make the an "Uncharted: The Movie, The game". A game based on a movie based on a game and ruin all the gameplay buy buying a license they already have like Street Fighter...idiots.

As long as this movie is not filmed or produce with brett Ratner anywhere near it, I think it will be ok, I am very dissapointed cause brett Ratner will be doing God of War, I think that the only Directors that can catch the true gruesome aspect of the GOW movie is Ridley Scott or Mel Gibson.. Ridley Scott did Gladiators, and Mel did notably, Apocalypto, and also Braveheart. I love the gruesome nature and that is what GOW embodies.

Gerard Butler would be a terrible choice for this type of film. Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake would be perfect. He kinda looks like him and has the same kind of attitude!

oh my god, DO NOT NOT NOT screw it up dont "mix things up a bit" stick to the original story and don't cast low budget actors, ugh this has suck written all over it the director is taking it way too lightly this is something that could be absolutely awesome but i just have a gut feeling its going to be a ton of fail

You know... maybe they'd have an easier time getting information out of the guy if they got his name right. it's AVI Arad, not Ari.
The thing about Uncharted is you can "mix things up" and still get it right. Because the game is about the adventure and the characters, so what if they skip the 3rd cave or add an extra fight scene. As long as they get Drake's Personality right they've got exactly what they need. I've been saying it since the game came out, the thing that makes this franchaise better than Tomb Raider is the fact that there's a real personality in the characters, something not reliant on their time underground pulling levers or how big their body parts are. These characters could be put into almost any situations and still give you an enjoyable experience as long as they actually act like the characters we've grown to enjoy from the game.

I'll see it. Why not? Not like it will ruin my respect for the game. But yes they need to make it stick to the game's story board. Really how hard can that be? Don't change out epic scenes for less costly ones, like they did in "SAHARA." The book was epic, the movie was like a cheep rip-off. XP (blech!)

@ Alpha2
Apparently Ari is Avi Arad's son - they run the Arad business together. -

guess who will star as drake ?!?!?!? he was in batman begins, dark knight ; furture films terminator 4 and metal gear solid The movie......... CHRISTAN BALE!!! muwhahahaha don't i know how to predict the future. i wouldn't want The rock, whatever his real name is to be the main character. he was already in the movie Rundown; not sure if this is the correct title but, i think it is because arnold the govenator makes a less than 10 second appearence in the movie. which i think he kind of hands off an action hero torch to the rock in a way. he says have fun....... sorry i'm really kind of drunk
