Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has announced a new promotion in the region targeting new PlayStation 3 customers.

Commencing on October 23, the company will be giving away a free copy of LittleBigPlanet to all consumers who purchase a new console following the game’s release. Although a closing date has yet to be announced, the promotion is expected to run throughout the holiday season.

The PSP is also getting a sweet deal down under, with a Lego Batman bundle available for AU 339.95; meanwhile, the new PSP-3000 systems will release at AU 319.95 on October 23, as previously reported.

Both deals are an attempt on Sony's part to acquire a bigger share of the Australian gaming market. There are an estimated 385,000 PS3's in Australia, 75,000 of which were given away in a recent promotion with the Bravia televisions. Only time will tell if these sales will help Sony reach their goal of half a million units.

As always, stay tuned for the latest sales figures and promotion news as we get them.

    How about a nice perk for the early adopters of the PS3, the REAL fans, people who pre ordered for launch day, ok so we got a free blu ray of casino royale, but thats it, im not asking for much, maybe preferential treatment when it comes to handing out Beta tests

    @6 I totally agree we should be getting special treatment. We pay DOUBLE for electronics here. Also I think the PS3s will be flying off the shelves when the government give us the rebate. Thousands of people will be spending that $1000 extra in their accounts on PS3s. Thank you Centrelink

    If australians pay double for electronics maybe its your own fault because you elect socialist governements with high taxes it is to be expected. Plus your currency is worth less than the american and pound

    I do feel bad for the aussies, it isn't the average gamer's fault their Government screws them, frankly I'm surprised LBP wasn't banned as well.

    We Ozzies dont want LBP (at least not for $100AUD+

    We'd rather an equal price to the rest of the world.

    @9 ....our dollar was 93+c just a few weeks ago ROFL, your (US?) the country that pays your workers a measly $5/hr and makes them work 4 jobs to survive.

    But hey this is about a Bonus? for Ozzy PS3 purchases, not flames.

    Its a high price and thats a fact so dont dispute it. And our government doesnt control game ratings but some board of 12? that were born a century ago and would probably ban Leave It To Beaver! given control over TV. I heard once if they decided tomorrow to actually implement a 18+ or <R> rating for game content, it'd still take a year to pass, so we are F#$%^d. So , import your games people,

    because atleast $ONY made the PS3 Game-Region-Free :-P

    @5... your just a Wank*r F**K OFF

    @6 looks like you'll have to catch more crocidiles to pay for electronics huh? i agree with 9 its probably your own fault for letting your government impose high taxes. i almost forgot australia was used as a prison until i read some australian comments.

    Can't believe some of your comments, your lack of knowledge of other countries & cultures makes you come off as ignorant and uneducated. Nice way to represent yourselfs and your respective countries

    I think this is a nice idea for ausrtalia but I feel abit negleted seeing them get LBP for free when I pre-ordered my PS3 60gb at 600€ and since I've never got any gratitude or free stuff from sony except a bd of casino royal which I didn't like.  In fance LBP is coming out at 70€ whilst in the U.S it's coming out at 60$ (which is roughly 45€) , if you guys in australia pay 119$ (australian) what will that price be in U.S $? I don't think that you guys are the only ones to pay more than the U.S, that's why I order my games from Amazon.com!

    As an Aussie who has been watching her BF for the past 8 months rave about the PS3, this deal will make me buy one. Due to the pricing of the console itself and then adding the game onto the price thats a fornight of my pay, which i need. This deal will help to get people to buy it.  And to the other people who complain about us getting this deal, you guys get so much better 'Limited editions' then what we get down here and for less too if we want to import it, have to pay shipping.
