Frontlines: Fuel of War cancelled for PS3

THQ is disappointing the PS3 faithful once more as they have officially canned Frontlines: Fuel of War for the PlayStation 3. The rumors regarding this game were all over the place over the last handful of days and THQ has finally had the guts to come out and lay them to rest in nothing but a negative fashion.
Some speculate that an interview with Frank Delise done through Gamespot kind of gave the foreshadowing for this event. It was in this interview that Frank stated, "Mostly the engine we're using--Unreal Engine 3. One of the main things about it is that the PS3 came a year later than the Xbox 360, so that actually delayed us making a budget in a sense for what's possible on the PS3 versus the Xbox and PC. Also, the engine wasn't ready for a year later because the PS3 came out a year later. So [with] the Xbox and the PC platform we've found more solid a platform to develop on, but the engine is literally just finished for that platform and that's actually a long time. All the first games for the PS3 are coming out now for the PS3 on that engine."
Along with Frontlines being canned for the PS3, THQ has canned their Concrete Games Studio which had two unannounced titles scheduled for release over the next 2-3 years. With the recent cancellation of the small-hit Destroy All Humans and now this, it’s been a disappointing week overall thus far for gamers.
THQ had the following to say about the issue, "In October, we announced certain product quality initiatives, including personnel and structural changes in product development and a more rigorous internal and external product evaluation and feedback process," said Brian Farrell, president and CEO of THQ. "Consistent with these initiatives, we have taken actions to strengthen our pipeline and position ourselves to compete aggressively with compelling, high quality games."
I guess in order to strengthen their pipelines they’ve leaned towards weakening their pipeline to the PlayStation 3. This move may hurt their reputation in the long run.

Whatever, one less bad FPS on the market. That's too bad about Destroy All Humans though. Never played it, but heard it was fun.

Well I honestly cant say I'm disappointed because I had no intention to pick this game up - but at the same time that isnt very good news for people hanging out for this game. If they were gonna cancel it they should have cancelled it months ago! Its not good enough... now what happens to all the pre-orders aye? Stupid THQ.. rediculous.

THQ probably didn't want to go up against Killzone 2 and Haze. They figured Playstation owners are more well rounded and don't just play FPSs. This would have been nothing more than a rental for me if I happened to be bored the week it came out, so I won't miss it. 360 gets Frontlines... PS3 get Metal Gear Solid... hmm, I'm gonna go cry now!!!

Maybe it has been canned but i doubt it, devs have been known before to say games were canned when they werent, and it seems kinda strange that the company would confront a rumor with "the game is still on track" then 2 days later say it has been canned. most likely it was just an uninformed rep that isnt directly involved with the game.

what abunch of a**holes, but in reality I thank them for saving PS3 owners from purchasing a mediocre game. Its not like this is going to be a groundbreaking game or anything, its just another FPS with shot guns, rocket launchers and enemy soldiers. I'll stick with call of duty thank you. Xbots are welcome to keep this one.

i said it b4 and i'll say it again, this is by far the best thing that could happen and if they were smart they would can the game all together. the demo is complete trash, trust me, no one is going to buy this game and this is no hate for the 360, i have 1 but this game is simply horrible.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. That is over used now. The PS3 came out a year later.... it came out a year later. SHUT UP!!! I'm tired of that, get it outta here. That didn't stop epic from making Unreal Tournament, an amazing shooter using the Unreal Engine.

Is Microsoft down to the point where they have to bribe studios for their platform? Probably wouldn't have gotten this title anyway. Glad THQ lost all that money deving for PS3.

THQ lost credibility i dont know how they are going to bring it back for the sony faithfuls, just seems THQ isnt that great of devs as some people may think that they can't conquer the PS3 hardware like everyone else can. as a matter of fact I can't think of a game that was really an AAA title, I wasn't a fan of DAH played and sent it back to blockbuster that same week.

So,their excuse, after UT3 released exclusively on ps3 last year,is that the unreal engine doesn't work properly on the ps3?THQ,are you serious?
