GT5 Prologue dated for North America

Posted on January 29th, 2008 at 10:15 EDT

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced today that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be released across North American territories on April 17, 2008.

Prologue servers as a precursor to the forthcoming Gran Turismo 5, and includes a over 60 vehicles, 5 tracks and allows for up to 16 players to compete against each other online. Full 1080p resolution is also included. The game will be available for purchase on Blu-ray for USD 39.99, or as a download title on PlayStation Network (pricing yet to be announced)

SCEA Director of Software Marketing, Jeff Reese, commented:  "Ten years following the introduction of Gran Turismo(TM) on PS one(R), Gran Turismo 5 Prologue delivers the most realistic and technologically advanced racing experience on any platform.”

“With 1080p graphics, revolutionary online features like Gran Turismo(TM) TV and the new in-cockpit racing view, the world's best-selling racing franchise will once again set the standard for racing games."

Do we have a release date for the EU yet?

A Phony Eu spokeman said, "Well you know we really don't give two hoots about Playstation owners in the European Region. We have shown that with the pathetic PSN updates we give them. So we'll make them wait for this, say a month or two. By then they'll need all their money for GTA IV. Oh wait? What? Oh that's delayed in Europe too?!?"

Yay, this is gonna be a sweet game. I've always been a Gran Turismo fan and I own Gran Turismo 1 through 4, and the HD Demo. Hopefully this will look way better than Forza. Oh, what am I saying, of course it will! It's Gran Turismo!

All you Europe people need to stop complaining about all the delays. Its not the developers fault that there is a million languages to translate the game into. In America its only one. In Japan its one. So for you guys its a little harder. Happy Birthday bplewis24. Anyway, ill probably get this but man $40 seems a bit steep considering they are going to release the rest later. If the full version is only $40 then that will be straight with me

I hate to say this with all these GT fans around, but I hate racing sims.  I liked the original GT but the more realistic it got, the less I liked them.

I felt the Japanese version was rushed out to the public, it played a little under par graphically with the frame rates.  I just hope, when released in english, it'll be much improved.  Otherwise a great game, but would prefer the full game instead.
