Our regular readers may have noticed that our Game of the Month feature has been missing for the past couple of months. This was due to our regular feature writer (Dave Wales) moving onto pastures new. No excuses though, from this point forth we're back on track and you can expect to read this regular feature at the end of each month. So, without further ado...
The first quarter of 2009 may be over but it only seems like the other day that we were busy reviewing the brilliant Killzone 2. With many publishers hanging back on their big releases until the notoriously busy summer to winter push, Killzone 2 has been a real highlight in a quarter littered with average games.
In May, things have picked up somewhat and there were a few titles that we scored above average, including Virtua Tennis 2009, UFC 2009, X-Men Origins Wolverine and Bionic Commando. However, there was only ever going to be one true contender for May’s Game of the Month Award. Sucker Punch’s inFamous signaled the beginning of a brand new franchise and its gripping storyline and high-octane gameplay complemented Cole’s electrically-charged skills and rooftop-hopping exploits perfectly.
inFamous is another massive PlayStation 3 exclusive title and a worthy winner of May’s Game of the Month Award. Alongside Killzone 2, it will very likely pick up plenty more accolades come the end of the year.
This is what some of our forum member had to say about inFamous:
“This game kicks ***. I love it, got it yesterday and played all day. Can't wait to get back home and play some more. I love the combat and for some reason I really love re-charging. I can't explain it but sucking the electricity out of phonebooths and lightpoles is amazingly fun. Graphics are awesome, I really liked the sewer lighting effects.” - gumionday
“I'm about 70% done with my first playthrough (Good side), and I'm losing unhealthy amounts of sleep over this game. Gameplay is incredibly fun, superpowers are awesome, framerate and graphics hold up extremely well and the story + karma moments are made purely of win. Having zero load times also keeps everything highly polished.” - Targetboard
“I’ve never played a game that makes u feel like a superhero as much as this.” - Spider
That last statement just about sums up our feelings on the game perfectly. If you want to feel what it’s like to become a modern day superhero, inFamous quite simply has it all.

After beating the game, I also think it has one of the best superhero stories to come by in a log while. For some reason I connected with cole more than most other sandbox game characters. Just like Niko in GTA4, there is something human about them that makes it easier to be on thier side in the games.

Infamous is simply fantastic, i am also losing extremely unhealthy amounts of sleep. The game is just THAT addictive, there's really no excuse for not owning this (if you don't have a ps3 buy one, and if you don't have money get a job! :P)

A fantastic game (or rather, demo - my copy is bound to arrive this week) but based on the demo, in every second you can feel the sheer amount of work put into the game.
Great job, Sucker Punch!

i wasnt expecting this game to be this good. like someone said earlier, i based the game off the demo which i didnt really like. but after hearing the good reviews i bought it and that game had me not wanting to stop until i unlock evrything plus beat the game. my only gripe is i wish there were enemy respawns after you complete the game and also replaying the game from start with all your powers. maybe a patch can take care of that. but best game i played in a long time, it made me feel like a kid again. yes .. im 33. thanks sucker punch, a team with great talent.
