Gran Turismo 5 delayed

Sony has confirmed that Polyphony Digital’s eagerly anticipated racer Gran Turismo 5 has been delayed and will no longer meet its planned November release date in Japan, North America and Europe.

The game was previously pencilled in for release in the U.S. on November 2, with a PAL and Japanese version arriving on November 3.

However, while new release dates for each territory have yet to be pinned down, the platform holder did assure eager fans that the PlayStation 3-exclusive title would still be “coming this holiday season.”

Sony America producer Taku Imasaki was quick to express the company’s apologies over the delay, commenting, "We sincerely apologise to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches."

Meanwhile, Sony Europe Tweeted, “Yes, the GT5 European has also been delayed, we are sorry to say. We expect to confirm a new release date before the end of the month.”

More as it breaks.
