Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed to Famitsu magazine that developer Polyphony Digital hopes to release the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 5 in Japan around July 2008.

Sony Computer Entertainment has yet to comment on a proposed release for the game in western territories. However, going by previous instalments, it is conceivable that European gamers could expect to wait for up to four months until the game hits shelves; as a result, an early 2009 release is probable.

As a precursor to the game, Polyphony will be offering a demo title similar to that of the HD concept, titled Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, which is scheduled to be released in Japan this October. Again, a western release has yet to be determined, but it is expected to be out by the year’s end as a free downloadable title from the PlayStation Store.

Stay tuned to PSU for more details as they break.

PS3 need a new raealistic racing game because GT always get to many time to release a game. Of course their games are the best but we should have atleast anoter option to play with until GT is release. I mean, something like Forza that use real life cars and not another game with futuristic cars.

Ive gotta admit. I am starting to have a really hard time with all these "release dates"! I'm starting to think its better to not know and be surprised! I feel like an 8 yr. old that wants a birthday present 4 months early!!! (or a year early in the GT5 case)

Looks like it will be sweet as always but I am hoping for some surprises to keep the faithful excited about playing it.

I really don't see what people like about this game,I mean yeah it looks amazing, but the driving part really messed this game up for me.I downloaded the demo hoping that it was better than GT3 but no,You stil lose traction in a quarter million dollar car at 40 MPH which is absolutley ridiculous.I,ve been driving since I was 14 and could drive a toaster if it had wheels and cars don't drive like that
