Hackers planning third attack on Sony this weekend?

Hackers are allegedly scheduling a third attack on Sony at some point this weekend, reports CNET.

According to a source close to the website who had been observing gossip on an IRC channel, hackers plan on infiltrating “Sony’s website” with the intention of stealing and publishing sensitive information, which may include users’ credit card numbers and other personal details.

The news comes in light of hackers Anonymous denying any involvement in the affair after a file displaying the group’s slogan was found on Sony’s servers.

Sony Chairman Sir Howard Stringer said yesterday that the hardware manufacturer plans on rolling out a year’s worth of free PSN identity protection in wake of the PSN outage, and said the service should be restored “within the coming days.”

PlayStation Network has been offline since April 20.
