Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it the latest thing in social gaming, or a mere Facebook app sporting the very latest in three-dimensional gear? Whatever you think PlayStation Home is – and there are times when even Sony doesn’t sound so sure – one thing we can all agree on is that it’s coming soon. Imminently, in fact.
Now Home Director Jack Buser has provided yet another definition for consumers to chew over- and explained away the delayed release in the bargain. Turns out Home isn’t a game or even a social networking service – it’s a full-blown dev kit.
"What’s taken so long is that Home is a massive undertaking, it’s not a game, it’s a development platform," Buser told Kotaku. "What Home actually is, is this entire development platform that allows other developers to create content for Home. You can get a HDK to develop for Home."
There’s plenty more through the link, including Buser’s thoughts on how exactly Home is transforming the concept of the online community. "Home gives you a virtual space that you can customize. You can bring people into that space and have them enveloped in your form of expression."
