SEGA’s critically acclaimed RPG Valkyria Chronicles will be receiving a re-release in Japan later this year as part of the PlayStation 3’s ‘The Best’ range.
Due to launch on March 5, 2009 this re-release will carry a reduced price tag of JPY 3,990 (roughly USD 43), as well as throwing in the Edie Nelson mission, which is currently only available as a download in Japan. As some of you may recall, Valkyria Chronicles failed to set the charts alight upon its release in North America late last year, faring only marginally better in the land of the rising sun.
Hopefully, this re-release will stimulate consumer interest in an otherwise highly accomplished JRPG.

Hopefully it will sell better. This game should be promoted as it deserves. Hopefully Sega (and Sony) will do a better propaganda this time.

sony's fault. They have a superb exclusive, and unlike Microsoft who put TV ads up for every exclusive they have and even a few multiplats, sony decide not to advertise. If they did, just a few TV ads showing the review scores, this game would sell the way it deserves to. it is a fantastic game.

Maybe they can actually give it some marketing this time around. But FFS, this game is easily one of the greatest this gen, I'm having so much fun.

@8,how is it Sony's fault when they did not publish the game? They are not desperate like MS to put up commercials for every game that still won't sell. That's just wastingmoney.

They should patch trophies in the new release because just having that there will increase the sales. Even if they made the medals the trophies it would make people wanna buy the game. The game looks sweet and I will buy it one day. I just bought my 2nd ps3 so me and my brother can play online at the same time. I'm enjoying playing COD online with him its amazing. Gotta chill with spending money for now. PS3s still don't come cheap.

I'm not an RPG kind of guy, but this title needs to sell like gangbusters. What I don't understand is that everyone was crying out for rpgs, yet no one is picking this up. Makes me sad too, gingo. I'm considering buying it just to support the effort. And I don't even play rpgs!

This game is amazing. I have never liked rpgs the slightest but I felt like playing something different, instead of a shooter that frankly i am getting sick of. I heard all the compliments for this game so i decided to give it a try. And i am amazed! Up there with my favorites games that I have played. Please everyone, if you are looking to get a game, go get this one for sure. you wont be dissapointed.

I've played it since it's european release. I can't believe not that many people outside of Japan have supported it. It's a fantastic game that everyone with a PS3 should pick up, RPG fan or not, EVERYONE! Let's hope Sega makes more of these games and that the Valkyria Chronicles franchise will remain exclusive to Sony's platforms.

As a RPG fan I have to say this game is awesome. It has depth like you would expect from old school SEGA.Just like Skies of arcadia.Indeed Vyse and Aika from Skies of arcadia are in this game also.It involes a struggle of a small country against a superpower. And the rise of a hero.Action is real time/turn based.Using stradegy is key to victory.50+ characters to pick from to form your squad.Amazing visuals from SEGA'S Canvas engine and great music to boot.Upgradable weapons, outfits and Tank.Good history for characters as they work better if teamed with people they like.Good to see SEGA is back at last.Hope this helps someone make up their mind about picking this up.Its worth it.I give it 10/10
