Japanese PS Store revamp, firmware 2.30 dated

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) announced today that the revamped PlayStation Store would go live in the region on April 15, coinciding with the release of firmware 2.30 for PlayStation 3.

According to a rough translation of the Japanese press release, the new firmware update appears to imply some sort of "PS Hunt for Treasure Store,” although details are sketchy at best.

CVG speculates that every 50th customer to download something from the store between April 12 – May 15 will receive some sort of free prize.

A release date for the new features in western territories has yet to be decided, with only a "mid April" commitment doing the rounds.

Stay tuned.
