Killzone 2 gets solid date for PSN demo

Sony has confirmed that the single player demo of Killzone 2 will be released one day prior to the game’s launch late next month.
Earlier this week we reported that a demo was indeed planned for release on PSN, though it remained unknown as to when it would be released. Said Guerrilla Games’ Mathijs de Jone: "A playable single-player demo is in the works and will be released prior to launch."
However, Speaking with MTV, Sony's Scott Steinberg confirmed that the demo would be coming to the PlayStation Network February 26th. In light of this, those of you who reserved Killzone 2 at Gamestop to receive the demo may want to consider Amazon’s pre-order scheme, which offers consumers exclusive PlayStation Home attire.

why make a demo available just one day before the game comes out? This doesn't smell good to me!

@3 There is a big difference between a free demo and a $60 game.
Demos are for people who are unsure if they want the game.

Its always worth having demo's either before or after a game is released for the obvious reason of try before you buy. But yeah in the case of KZ2 it would have been nice to get the demo at least a week before release, purely so i can wet my appetite before the full game gets dropped through the letter box

This article isn't clear on gamestop preorders. Are you saying that they have dropped back the demo date for the preorders to the same date when it will be available to everyone anyway? Or are you saying that since a demo is indeed coming, why bother preorder it at gamestop to be able to play the demo on Feb 5th?

Not everyone is a FPS fan. I will download the demo just to see what all the hype is about.

See H-Jester, #3's post is the difference between people that see demos for what they are (a free try at something you may buy), and people that live from demo to demo as a way of free "psuedo-gaming". These are the people that say a Thursday update is weak when there are no demos.

Maybe they dont want to release a demo, incase it does a HAZE...everyone hyped Haze and everyone was going to 'buy' it...then after the demo no one wanted it, everyone thought it was a load of rubbish. Maybe Sony dont want that to happen with Killzone 2.

I think the whole point of a demo is to decide to buy the game or not but with such a huge game like Killzone 2 they should of released the demo earlier instead of one day before. I say this because it'll probably be a huge seller and will sell out everywhere so if you are unsure if you want the game and play the demo then decide yes what happens when its sold out where you go? the demo needed to be released sooner to give people time to still preorder it if they are unsure.

I wish they'd just make the demo available to everyone and knock off this pre order crap.

That's pointless. Why not released it at the beginnign of February so if people like it, then tehy have a chance to pre-order.. useless. Gonna skip this demo and wait the omg extra day for the game.

I don't see what the problem Is..
The demo comes out the day BEFORE Release, Say 200.00 people who were unsure about It, play It and love It, They will Buy It the next day.
Smart move.

Won't bother downloading it. The point is, by that day, they would have had to ship it.

@22
Try giving the people you ordered it from a call. they'll give you any promo codes you missed out on by ordering too early. I ordered resistance 2 before pre-orderers could participate in the beta, so I just gave gamestop a call and they gave me a code over the phone.

So the demo gets released on Feb 26th which is a Thursday thats when PSN updates so you have one day to play the demo before deciding if you want the game the next day. I have my copy preordered so I get the demo early from gamestop and am buying on the first day it comes out.
