Konami comments on ID registration issues

Those of you with even a minute interest in gaming will be aware of the huge amount of promotion going in to Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online, as we quickly approach their release on June 12.
As many of you will know, the MGO Beta was made available for download earlier this week with the Store update. Although the actual beta is not due to go live until Monday April 21, we've been able to prepare ourselves by signing up for our Konami IDs and Game IDs.
Well, in theory anyway. It appears as though a lot of eager beta testers have not been able to register their IDs as the site has been seriously overloaded.
Brandon Laurino from Konami responded to the issue on PlayStation.Blog:
"Hi everyone! Due to incredibly high demand for the Metal Gear Online Beta test, we are aware that some of you are experiencing difficulties connecting to the Konami ID site.
We are adding more servers and working around the clock to resolve this issue. We thank you for your patience, and your participation in the Metal Gear Online Beta test."
The website itself, id.konami.net, has been updated with a post too:
"We regret to inform you that the site is currently busy due to high level of traffic creating difficulties in logging in. We would like to recommend that you try again at a different time. We would like to apologize for any inconveniences caused in the meantime."
Konami is probably expecting a backlash from the fans if things aren't running smoothly by Monday, so let's hope they're able to resolve the problems.

Luckly I went to the page early last week and did not have any problem signing up. I have my ID which is the good thing. I have gone back since then and the site seems pretty hooped. The times have made it into the site, it is mega slow tons of traffic.

First all its stupid that we have to sign up a Konami ID. They can just use the register key that can be generate a random number as our Konami ID. And Second Konami ID and Gamer ID can be the same, so wth is the difference? seriously I wonder who works as Konami programmer

I finally registered after trying at least 20 times. I just hope they fix the problem before Monday. Konami should've known a lot of people were going to sign up. They should've been prepared. PSN ID: Chuck-Norris909

As for the $5 for the BETA, and some 40 plus hours now, and counting, I have reached the " Confirmation screen " 5 times only to see the " YOU TOOK TO LONG TYPING " remark! I have a Idea, keep the FRAKING EXTRA Map, and let us play the BETA w/o your Marketing Campaign for our PERSONAL INFORMATION, that's Konami ID's for all of you that don't speak Konami!! I almost forgot, NY COMIC CON, Konami REP stated that the BETA will have a EXTRA map, no other description provided.

MGS4 comes WITH MGO. They are not separate.

@Norris, what only 20 times? Since yesterday I've tried at least 100 times easy. Except I've only gotten to the screen where I enter the ID I want 2 times. And when I was about to succeed in creating my account I got loads of error messages including I have to have a nick between 8-32 or so letters (which I had) and that my mail was already used (which by god I know it isn't).

Konami and Sony and all gosh darn companies out there are as stupid as they come. Every time a high profile title comes out there is an overwhelming demand, one would think Konami would have anticipated this kind of situation and stocked up on a few servers instead of having a server meltdown and pissed off fans.

For those who haven't kept up. You don't have to buy two separate games. MGO is included with MGS4, its not a different game to buy. Also those who have tried 100 times or 50 or whatever should have some patience. The Beta is to figure all this out and give them an idea of what to look for. I tried dl'ing the update once and it didn't work. I tried first thing in the morning and didn't have a problem. I've tried the Konami ID 5x through the day total and I'll just try occassional until the servers are up and I get it.

i was able to get mine done yesterday afternoon after countless hours of trying...needless to say, konami should have anticipated this and it makes my knees weak when thinking about what will occur once the REAL MGO gets in the hands of the millions of fans...i believe that these current online issues will be small potatoes to the issues that will occur when MGO hits the shelves...IT WIILL BE WORSE!!!

DRAKO, you are FRAKING TOSSER, you know darn well that the ID server has nothing to do with the game portion. If you don't believe me go to the Konami portal in the game? AH, it's funny when people like you try to talk with a FOOT in your mouth? LOL!

@Draco: Persistace pays off. I've been at it for several hours since the 17th and I finally got mine just a few mins ago. It was worth all the pain and suffering. I encourage people to never give up, show Konami that the amount of players who will bombard their servers come in a huge number.

The new servers have finaly gone online. There are still a few bugs though such as claiming your email address belongs to another ID but once you get around it either by deleteing you ID and starting over or directing it to another email address the confirmation goes thorugh. Now all we have to do is wait for the actual GAME servers to go up so we can start pla-- I mean TESTING this beta.
@bnolan: the game password has to be numbers (it says the password cant use the alphabet in blue letters... I missed that too at first.)

Those of you having problems Signing UP here is the solution.
Step One: Download and Install FireFox
Step Two: Download the AutoFill plugin for FF
Step Three: Once you get in Konami ID fill in the fields right click go to Auto former and save all fields this will allow you to move a bit faster through site and you don't need to keep on filling in the same information.
Step Four: Once you get the Email Conformation click on the link sent by Konami Note: If it doesn't work the first time keep trying till it goes through this is how I got mine.
Step Five: Good Luck and Hope to see you in the Beta
