[UPDATE] Leipzig: New PlayStation Eye game announced

PlayStation Eye fans have been waiting a long time for Sony to start supporting the often ignored peripheral. Fortunately, SCEE is working on a new PlayStation Eye game entitled EyePet.

This interactive pet game will work just as you'd expect it to. Wiggling your finger, holding objects, and creating movement in front of the Eye will allow you to interact with your pet in various ways. If you're wondering what type of pets you'll be able to have, you'll be given the chance to raise either a kitten or a puppy.

EyePet is set to release late 2009 and is currently announced only for the European market.

UPDATE: The first trailer has hit the net:

it would be really hard to make a really good game out of this; but this type of games are good for little kids and I guess sony is using it to compete agains the Wii and steal its thunder.

This sounds pretty boring honestly, it's just going to be a copy of Nintendos games if they don't have something new.

I like it. It's cool how you can draw your own things and its put ingame. Like the tank game demo from the playstation blogs if anyone remembers that. Where you scan your own tank and landscape and have battles.

Like everyone else has been saying, We Need Some Good Games For The PS Eye Sony!!!!! The Eye of Judgement is the only decent game for it. The Eye Camera has been out for well over a year now and what new games have come along for it? None!.... Pi**es Me Off!!!

everyone needs to stop being selfish.  This is awesome and it ten times what nintendogs is. this is an awesome new ip that is good for inticing new cosumers while also being a good tech demo for other companies. I just hope that the interactivity is as fluid as what they are showing. give me a chess game like that ( or any board game.  man i wouldn't mind an awesome strategy game where i could actually pic up the pieces and move them around.  granted i won't get this but it has great potential, also possible chick magnet.

PSU, try to search the web for EyeToy Play!: Hero

I've only read a tiny bit about it a while ago, and it seems like a really cool game the Eye! It also shows that Wii almost got nothing special compared to the PS brand :P
