LittleBigPlanet dev talks water, weather

Over on the LittleBigPlanet forums, Mark Healey from Media Molecule answered a few questions regarding LittleBigPlanet's weather, water and effects.

"You can set fire to pretty much anything, you can also make things ‘electrified’, or turn them to gas, which is very cool, " said Healey. "By water, I assume you mean ‘real water’ that acts like real water does! This isn’t in the initial release, but we have some cool ideas for how to integrate it into a possible future DLC — of course, it will have a slight LBP twist to it... There is fog that you can tweak, and you could pretty easily fake a thunderstorm with the right sound effect objects and some ‘emitted’ rain drops or something."

    @1, not tryna be rude, but you like so many others seem to get so excited to post the first comment, i never understood the logic behind that, can anyone care to explain why many people do it? on topic: LBP is gonna be awesome, looking forward to messing around with these whether effects

    @ 4, thank you for noticing that and bringing it up. I don't get it either. What's the point? Back on topic, this is one of the most innovative games i've ever seen. Very original

    People like to race to be the first to comment, and thus declare FIRST! I've never done it but it seem to me like harmless fun. However, what I don't understand is why people complain about it. Is just text, you can scroll down to the next one. As for Littlebigplanet I am going to pre-order it at gamestop for Kratos Sackboy. I was thinking... can't you(being the stagebuilder) set a piece of Kratos Sackboy as reward for completing a stage? If it's possible I want to get the Heavenly Sword Sackgirl by completing friend stages.

    I'm extremely glad to hear they are putting this into the game, I can not think of any ways to improve this game now!!! AWESOME

    This game is going to be so good, and you could put a lot more tactics in to the game like having to put out the fire with water and you could mix electric with the water so you might want to use floating steping stones to get over the water.

    This game will be good when it first comes out, certainly worth a Day One for me, but I think you won't really see what it can do until the community has had some time to mess around with it and create some amazing content.

    I'm alittle dissapointed at the fact that they won't have water at their release and it'll probably be in a DLC that we have to pay for :( Still, its going to be a blast!

    LAST!!! To all people still confused by the FIRST thing. It is simply traditional, if you go to post a comment, it's like fresh snow ... you have to put some footprints on it, especially if you're a regular visitor, but only if you have a valid comment to follow up with.  Simply writing FIRST on it's own is "first-lurking" and IMHO, frowned upon.

    there is supposidly a free dlc the first day it comes out, maybe it will be the water or some other thing. but i can see how it might be something you pay for but then again what if you havent payed for it yet, those that mean that wouldnt be able to play one of your buddy's stages b/c it has water?

    psn id: gingo... LBP could quite possibly be the game competing with MGS4 for GOTY of the year as it sounds like hours upon hours of endless fun
