Lombardi: Valve is still 'up on the idea' of PS3 development

Valve Corporation’s Doug Lombardi has stated that the company is still very much "up on the idea" of developing for Sony’s PlayStation 3 console, though noted the firm must first rack up a dedicated team of coders to work on the system.
Speaking to Joystiq in London this week, Lombardi commented, "If you look at The Orange Box -- PC: 96 on Metacritic, 360: 96 on Metacritic, PS3 like... 84 or something. That's not even close to where we are right now with the 360 and PC and the reason is people."
He added that "we have to get people under our roof who are dedicated, talented PS3 guys and then all bets are off. We can take the same sort of strides and get the quality out of the box and offer the same support post-launch on that platform, as well."
Quizzed on whether Valve was in the process of scouting out new talent, Lombardi concluded: "Valve is always looking to hire people. So yeah, definitely."

I am happy to jear that they at least care about satisfying PS3 owners,my question is why can'r rhet go to EA for a few PS3 workers and patch Team Fortress 2, I don't get that art but they are at least trying, hope they get who they need and patch TF2,then its a giving,TF2 back on top!!

valve can't be considered a good developer if they can't port a game themselves, they are xbots and pc nuts, they find the concept of developing on a hard machine terrifying. And they didn't even port orange box, so what shud they expect, f***ing b*******ting d***s

I am also upset at Team Fortress 2(included in OrangeBox) for PS3 being left behind as far as updates and fixes. But the other games play pretty well and was worth the cost of OrangeBox all by themselves. Portal is very fun to play and most of the other games were new to me(I had only played HL1 when it came out).
So overall I am disappointed in TF2 on PS3 but the other games and the price make up for that to me. I do hope EA does not make the same mistakes again though(not supporting the PS3 version of games in the future).

I just so happen to think that Orange Box will be a waste of my time, so I will not be getting it. Is he even serious, he is a developer making a game for a console and then he is gonna go and critisize said console. He has got some balls coming off as if he doesnt need the PS3. I cant wait to see what he says in about a years time after the PS3 takes off and never looks back.

Hey valve here's an idea. Rather than further alienating your PC fan base (the people have supported you from the beginning and made you what you are today), why don't you quit taking money from microsoft for and, I dunno, actually wrap up Half-Life 2.
