Update: The reviewer for GamePro who has played through MGS4 has left this comment about the 90 minute rumor.
"I've beat the game twice, and am the author of the forthcoming [GamePro] review," Shuman said. "Ninety-minute-long cinemas in MGS4 sounds like an exaggeration. Like the other MGS games, MGS4 definitely has a cinematic quality. And yes, some of the cut-scenes in the game are elaborate and occasionally lengthy. But not a one, to my recollection, even approaches 90 minutes."
Original Story: According to the latest issue of PlayStation World magazine, Konami’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will feature cut scenes that run up to 90 minutes in length.
Although such lengthy cinematics have become virtually synonymous with the popular stealth franchise over the years, MGS4 is set to feature by far the longest of any story sequences in the series to date.
However, the publication does reveal that players will be able to pause or skip any cut scene in the game if they wish. The article goes on to describe the game’s story as “massive,” labelling it “the videogame equivalent of all three Godfather movies on one disc.”
“As you'd expect, you'll spend a lot of time watching cut-scenes, so if you found previous games' story exposition laborious, then you'd better find yourself a nice cushion and plenty of teabags in readiness for MGS4's,” it states.
"They can be skipped, but you'll be missing out on some of the finally crafted examples of FMV footage anywhere in gaming.”
Metal Gear Solid 4 is due out worldwide on June 12.

FMV? Did kojima decide to have cgi cutcenes instead of engine driven cutscenes? that new.
@Playstation_3
This game is about the story. And every MGS has had some crazy scenarios that you only could understand if you watch the cutscenes. Do you like playing a game without a coherent story?
I am sure there are plenty games out there for you. Might I recommend you trying out a wii perhaps?

This actually has me thinking of cancelling my order. I love the look of the game, but jeez, this is ridiculous.
Okay, you can skip them, but then you miss much of the story... yet I don't want to be sat there twiddling my thumbs for 90 minutes when I'm supposed to be playing a game.

Oh yeah ;D
Although I don't think one cutscene will last 90 minutes, although it might you never know. Personally I don't think that's the case, as mentioned before it's probably meant as the total length. I couldn't imagine people sitting 90 minutes before getting into any gameplay, that would be horrible (at least for some people) but it might just be so damn good it only feels like a couple o'minutes ;) Even if that's the case then I can't believe what I am hearing that people might not buy it because of it. That's totally ridiculous, we all know why we want this game. The story ! Atleast that's what I'm looking forward to the most:D

Haha yea soon we will hear that its a mistake, or maybe the ending movie is 90 min, metal gears always have long endings. I would love 90 min cutscenes, it would take that long to explain what the heck happened in MGS2 hah MGS4 is going to be AMAZING

Crap. If the events are as as crazy as in MGS2:SOL, that can be ugly. I'm still getting it though (actually, I already paid for it in full).

I think the article means to say that the cutscenes total up to 90 minutes in length but the way the article was written makes it seem like the cutscenes themselves can be 90 minutes long. I strongly doubt thats the case but if it is then no wonder they couldn't fit it all on one BD.

okay im skimming through al these post and i see ppl saying stuff like " i hope you can skip it i rather play the game"
let me ask you a question are you new to MGS???
are you buying mgs4 simply because of the hype...
if so plz dont buy it... otherwise your gonna be all over the place telling all of the mgs fanbase what we already know... MGS has long cut scenes....
we know this and we accpet this....
if you dont like the idea of more story than gameplay then dont buy it... its not a mindless shooter...

I was thinking of canceling my order after playing the MGO beta, But i am for sure canceling now. For me to spend 60 buck's on a movie is obsurd. Sorry i am into gaming not cutscene's.

Hahah ok go have fun playing your mindless shooter. Oh go play HALO or somthing haha I love these people who never played MGS games and they hear all the hype so plan to get it, Then when they see its not a mindless shooter they get all mad. well good all of us fans love how the games are. MGS games would suck with out the massive story line inside.

Clearly the person stating 90minute cutscenes has no idea what he's talking about especially when Kojima's cutscenes have ALWAYS been in game engine and not FMV. The longest cutscene's I've ever seen where in Xenosaga. 30 minutes easily but they were good story and always set up the next game play area. And also offered the same amount of game play for the time spent not playing.
