MGS4 sales top 4.75 million, Konami sales rise 4.2%

Critically acclaimed stealth action romp Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has now sold over 4.75 million copies globally since its launch in June 2008, Konami said today.

The Japanese software giant also confirmed that the game’s accompanying online segment, Metal Gear Online, has attracted 1.3 million users worldwide. Pro Evolution Soccer also proved popular among consumers, with the series shifting 8.5 million units last year.

Sales jumped 4.2 percent this past fiscal year, though profits are down by 40 percent, clocking in at 10,874 million yen (£2.1 billion).

    4.75`s no bad. seems like they dropped the price (platinum game) of the game pretty quickly.

    I can't believe the game only sold 4 milion... Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best game i've played this gen...i honestly tought the game would sell better... but it's only been a year... this game is so good i'm gonna buy the game again :))anyways it would have been even cooler if Kojima signed them...

    4.75 milion copies .... wow ...4.75 x 60 $ = 285000000 m $ ...  that makes it the biggest selling PS3 game of all time ... i think so :)

    also means i wasnt wrong when i said that MGS4 was the best game ever ... way better that any other game

    MSG4 is one of the best games i have ever played

    Thats like over 14,000 copies a day (i think) thats pretty good to me.

    People will buy it 4 ever.  as the PS3 sells, it will be in many people collection.  1 in 4 owners, maybe?

    wtf? how the he11 can a stupid golf game double its sales? thats why i hate video games today, sports games need to be stopped! there not real games!

    Isn't this even the top selling METAL GEAR game of all time? I don't think MGS3 reached 4.7 mil, though 2 or 1 may have.

    Must agree that this is probably one of the best games ever, its incredible and really is a must have in your collection, it really should sell a lot more, in fact if you have a PS3 it should be made compulsary that you own it

    i agree with #5 .. my friend  bought a ps3 the last week and he's gonna get mgs4 after few days..

    one of the best games ( if it isnt the best ) i had ever played

    Iv asked this before but does any one know if it is true that xbox is going to get MGS4 there are a few sites that has it penciled down like that!

     ya their online segment is great but they are so stupid for making us use KONAMI ID.... Sony should have said NO.  The whole point of PS3 is to have one log in and that screwed it all up....

    Two billion in profit?! That doesn't sound bad to me at all. I'm glad this game has sold so much. Hopefully this shows what good games on the PS3 can do and more companies follow now.

    @1 - It went platinum pretty quickly because it sold pretty quickly.

    @    2.....well, the best games are not the most popular and the most populer games are not the best. xbox fans will talk high about halo just because it sold so much. I' ve played halo and mgs4. I know which game I like better.

    @    10...nothing was confermed. Its the same rumor that's been around since day 1

     @2) MGS4 has done terrific! 4.75M is nothing to laugh at as it's surpassed MGS3's sales which topped at 4.02M when production stopped. the fact that its outsold it's predecessor on a MUCH smaller userbase should be indication enough on how well it's doing.

    Wow, that's very good for Kojima.  I also don't see the radgamer posting any anti-ps3 messages on this story either.

    Let's round it to 5 mill... about 20 mill PS3's sold... almost 1 in 4 PS3s have MGS4. That's actually pretty good.

    2009.5.18       i bought the limited edition and the standard. LE     still sealed, can't wait to hear about the new game.    if it had a  theater and some other stuff, it probably would have went over 4 million
