MLB 2K8 for PS3 contains bonus content

The latest issue of Game Informer has revealed that the PS3's Blu-ray version of MLB 2K8 has given the console a sizable advantage over the 360 regarding the amount of content that will be included in the final retail version.

"There is so much content included in the game that it couldn’t all fit onto the 360 disc. Free downloadable content will be provided for what was left out."

The 360 version of the game is having the unlockable stadiums and Cool Base alternate uniforms left out of the final retail version, while the PS3 version has the features included on its Blu-ray disc. The developers behind MLB 2K8 will make that extra content available as a free download for 360 owners on release day, but this is one of the times where the PS3's choice of software medium begins to pay off.

While this may not bother 360 owners who have access to Xbox Live, those who don’t will miss out on the content completely. This gives further leverage to PS3 owners as their game format is of higher capacity as well as having larger and upgradeable, custom, hard drives to store extra downloadable content. We'll have more for you on MLB 2K8 soon.

"unlockable stadiums and Cool Base alternate uniforms" souinds like bonus content to me.  Bonus content = Extra content not needed  for gameplay.

Don't be hating saso.  Stay in school.

Well for those 360 users that dont have LIVE, its content that they paid for and didnt get. The game costs the same on both platforms. People with LIVE can eat up HDD space and bandwidth, but us PS3 owners get it regardless of internet and dont need to eat up HDD space.

phileoca...in regards to your comment i'am not hating just simply stating facts....the content which both ps3 and 360 versions are getting simply didn't fit on a 360 disc....it was content which was meant to be included all along....and exactly what is it that i'm supposedly "hating" about?.....lame

Well, it's about time developers start giving us PS3 owners more. Even though the content will be avaliable on Xbox Live, it's just funny because all of the content couldn't fit on the DVD that the 360 uses.

I don't even consider the 360 a full 7th gen console, it's just a regular Xbox that has better graphics. The 360 is still using old DVD technology that was used on the PS2 and Xbox for Gods Sake!! Ha ha ha!!

psn id: gingo... its good that developers are beginning to use the advantage of actually having a blu ray disk to work with and are using the space as best they can

Now you see with some time spent improving their technology, developers like Capcom can rid their games of these compulsory installs. If Naughty Dog can do it.. However it's too late for the 360 to incorporate a Blu-ray drive for games, there's too many people out there that wouldn't buy an add-on drive or replace their current console for a new one. Watch as 360 owners start to complain that they're wasting their monthly broadband bandwidth allowance and HDD capacity for these downloads. Oh, and time too.

PS3 freaking Pwns, but the real advantage in the baseball gaming world is that PS3 has MLB 08 which is Sony published and the best baseball game there is

Developers should do this reasons being because of extra space on blu ray, and Since how mutiplatformed ps3 games how they can fit tons of content on blu ray, and the 360 versions of games would just not include extra bonus content.

"Yeah blu-ray isn't neccessary and Sony is just forcing it on people." Looks like blu-ray is already paying off and it's still relatively early in this generation. Even though the content is free on xbl, not everyone has access to xbl. Way to think ahead Sony.

Cool game. Just a thought for some. Went to GTAIV website and saw this for their title: Welcome to Liberty City - It's not as sh!tty as the rest of the country. I think thats true in some way for most games that are out now. 2008 will bring great games and more!

Unlockable stadiums have been included in baseball games for almost five years now. It is expected. It is not bonus content.
