Konami has revealed that over one million members have signed up for Metal Gear Online since its launch in June 2008.

To celebrate the milestone, the Japanese-based publisher has announced it will be running a new in-game promotion, dubbed the ‘Metal Gear Online: Commemorative Campaign’

Taking place November 25 – December 9, the promotion will reward any player accessing the title during this period with 10,000 points on the final date.

Furthermore, users will also be entered into a special draw where they can scoop an additional 10,000 points to use in Metal Gear Online’s in-game shop.

Stay tuned.

So underrated.  I don't play it anymore, but I thought it was great when I did.  Good for them...

Great game, nutty registration process - Konami probably lost more than half their potential audience at the gate.  Even Kojima's grumbled about it, but it's great to see his and his team's work is getting a good playing despite some silly corporate decisions.

@2 I agree.  It's all about that melee.  The CQC.  That stuff is hilarious when you pull it off.  I wish more games had CQC.

psn id: gingo.... mgo could have been better, a lot better but if a game doesn't let you pick up and play without going through a whole process of creating a konami id then it doesn't have much hope

The registration process almost put me off. But then I remembered my Beta account! AHAHA!

Oh yes, I enjoy this online game, very true =] The only down side is lack of online maps, and I'm not payin a tenner for a few extra maps btw.. Sorry. 3-5 quid maybe aye, but 10?! HA! I'm MGS die hard, played since my friends were all obsessin over Pokemon and Crash Bandicoot, and we're the same age lol.

10,000 points? For the online shop thatyou can only use if you have purchased an add on for it? Hmm... Sure.

So it'll be useless for me then? Most likely, LOL.

I still play MGO I like it, the CQC was great and the controls are alot better then Socom Beta were, some minor bullet lag but that depends on who you are connecting to really.

exhaustive sign up put thousands off i think

maybe we would have been reading this 2 months ago was it not for that

pissed me off but great overall online game, despite the fact you could go DOWN levels, or get stuck at the boundaries

QCQ battles are hilarious btw haha watching 10 guys putting each other in headlocks and then half of them laying down with the birdies over there head s hahaha

wow 1 million online users for an online you have to go on your computer and spend half an hour on registering after the servers over load as usual. Pretty fun game but signing in to it is strange.

Mgs4 was great, but Mg Online sucked. I think the only reason why people played Mg online was simplyt b/c it was metal gear. Well, thats my opinion at least.

This game is really good. However the registration process could have been simpler for the lazy people.
