Earlier this morning, Amazon.com provided the public with an opportunity to pre-order the 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle that is set to go on sale June 12 of next week. Unfortunately, Amazon was not prepared for the onslaught of hits that would accumulate once that digital gate had been opened.
Due to this unforeseen (how?) traffic increase, Amazon.com was literally flooded and their services were rendered unavailable. It took a mere seven minutes for rabid Metal Gear fans to pre-order the full amount of 80GB systems that Amazon had to offer.
If you happened to miss out on this pre-order bonanza, you’ll still have a chance to grab one of these bundles when the game hits retail shelves next week. You’ll have the option to buy the MGS4 bundle at your local GameStop, though sadly GameStop is going to require that you buy the L.E. headset for MGS4 as well, bringing your total bundle price to a rather steep $560. To some this will be a small price to pay for Metal Gear Solid lore, while for others it’ll be impossible to justify their purchase.
As more news pops up surrounding MGS4, we’ll be sure to keep you informed.
