Metal Gear Solid 4 tops UK Charts

Konami’s critically acclaimed stealth title Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has stormed to the top of the UK Charts this week, becoming the region’s second fastest selling PlayStation 3 title in the process.

The game’s release knocks former number one entry LEGO Indiana Jones into second place, with Rockstar’s highly successful Grand Theft Auto IV – which currently remains the fastest selling PS3 title thus far – dropping to third.

    Good news.

    MGS4 is so much greater than GTAIV, it deserves to be THE fastest selling PS3 title.

    But Game of the Year award will suffice, and that's EXACTLY what it's getting from the majority of sites

    No SH1t sherlock!!!! I thought they would struggle to sell any!!!! Stating the obvious but good news all the same, its a top game and the first TRUE next gen game. Still love GTA though, always have and always will.

    Nice to see Civ:Revolution on the charts..if any game deserves to be there this is it.

    psn id: gingo.... if mgs4 hadn't been top of the charts i would have been seriously concerned as it is the best game i've ever played and deserves all the credit it will get and its just a shame gta4 will get GOTY when mgs4 clearly deserves it more

    Try not to be so pessimistic, mate!

    If you take a look at Gamespot's review, IGN's, or many more, it's clear that they were completely stunned with the game.

    Here's a quote from the IGN review: "Is it possible to give a game an 11? If so, this would be the game that would merit that score. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a title that exceeds all of the hype that was attached to the title. Regardless of whether you've seen every trailer and screenshot, read every preview and heard every interview, you won't get a full sense of how phenomenal this title is unless you sit down and experience it for yourself."

    Now they said this is the game to get 11/10. GOTY is an award that many different sites and magazines hand out, so different games will achieve the award from different sources, obviously. MGS4? I see it GOTY in the majority of sources' eyes, as GTAIV just didn't live up to the expectations from fans and grew old rapidly. (Not bashing the game.) Like IGN said, MGS4 exceeded the hype.

    I like GTA 4 but I gotta say this game is far better and more polished. About being Game Of The Year, well it's too early to say that, I think that maybe LittleBigPlanet will be the surprise of the year. Of course it's just my opinion.

    awwww civ at number 9 well i did my part n bought msg4 n civ,the graphics on msg4 are nothing short of amazing i just walk round thinking this game looks better then a high end pc game,just wow .....................

    yea this game is unbeliveable SONY these are the way most of the games should look like. its ashame HAZE DONT look half as good as MGS4.
