Microsoft boasting about Sony's dwindling exclusives

During Microsoft's E3 press conference today, Director of Xbox 360 Product Management Aaron Greenberg boasted about how Sony has been losing third party exclusive support, stating that the "list is getting smaller."
“We have a white board that lists all of the games people said we’d never get,” Greenberg said. “That list is getting smaller.”
With games like Final Fantasy XIII now going multiplatform, it seems as though even the most coveted PS3 exclusives are losing their exclusivity. When asked about the possibility of Metal Gear Solid 4 making an appearance on the Xbox 360, Greenberg responded, “That’s a question for Konami.”
Could it be? We've all heard Konami state that Metal Gear Solid 4 will remain exclusive to the PS3, but we've also heard that from other various developers on their titles, including Square Enix on Final Fantasy XIII. We can only keep our fingers crossed that Sony will try and hold on to what they have left.

yeah, but people will realize that it is a: either a mistake having to tune down a game from a company that is known raise the bar of video games just to make it multi platform, or it will be 6 dvds and ms will start to realize that dvds are too small and are limiting.

hey as long as ms can only copy what sony has and not come up with anything original then i am fine, they only have taken 2 big exclusives, and Konami has already stated many times that mgs4 will never go to 360 saying that sony does need to do more work to keep the exclusives they do have.

In the current gen exclusivity is no more.
The real exclusive softwares are AAA first party material! Consumers will have to pick their consoles based on whos got the first party good they love. Example, Mario! Only on Nintendo platform.
Think about it for sec...M$ has no first party AAA developers. So they spend their money bags buying people off!

Well look at Nintendo...all their great games are 1st party. This is basically what Sony is doing. Sure...there can be multiplatform titles on their system, but the best games come from within their own studios.

We still got Motorstorm the best off-road racer, we got Infamous an original idea that M$ dosn't have much! We have Insomniac saying they are just going to focus on Sony consoles this year, and so much more! M$ is just trying to look superior in a stupidly ridiculous way!

Meh, that fat turd doesn't have a ton to brag about. Microsoft only managed to make 1 FFXIII game multiplatform, except for in the country with its strongest fanbase. FFXIII is still exclusive in Japan, and FFXIII: Versus is PS3 exclusive WORLD WIDE.
While not a huge victory, it still p1sses me off that Sony has spent too much time and money fighting the HD war than it has been securing exclusives in the console war.

Good job @ all the commenters. You people actually realize what's going on. All over the forums there are these hilarious comments like 'OOHH EETS OVA FOR TEH PS3!!!"
LOL we got exclusives from the 360 like Lost Planet, Bioshock, Eternal Sonata, and more. So there are a lot of multi platform titles.
The question here is, who has the better of the few exclusives? Sony is absolutely dominating in that department, with past and future exclusives. Tomorrow, with Sony's showing, Sony's dominance will just grow larger.
@Alpha2 - you are correct. Anyone who knows anything about psychology knows that this is M$'s insecurity coming straight out their mouth.

I'm sorry to hear about FFXIII also going to XSLOP360. I'm not a fan of FF myself, but it was cool the it was a PS3 exclusive anyway. I have no doubt that Micro$haft paid a lot of money for it. What happened between Square Enix and Sony? It seemed like business relationship was strained already.

i really couldnt care less about all this stuff, fair play to microsoft, people are moaning that they have just thrown money at devs to gain titles, but it is a buisness, and they are doing a pretty good job of it(excluding all the money lost on faulty consoles), if sony had some sense theyd start doin the same, on the flip side i dont really care what games go multiplat, aslong as i can enjoy them on my ps3 its all good, and currently the only games that i like on the xbox are bioshock, and the gears series. and we are getting one of those, and the gears games i just enjoy with friends on their 360's, so all in all, no big deal

I was a little ticked when I heard of FF XIII, and even though I don't play many RPGs, I find it funny that MS is losing quite a few top-notch games as well. Bioshock anyone? I mean, sure, MS got a piece of 1 FF game, and they bought out a few more (DMC4, GTA IV, RE5) but as long as Sony has the most diverse line-up, they'll never win. I really think they should concentrate on putting their money into making reliable consoles instead of games you can't play if it fails.
I also got a good laugh today when MS claimed they had the most diverse line-up of games. They attacked the PS3 but didn't touch the Wii. MS is scared because anyone who wants to play FF is going to have to get a PS3 eventually. Sony's first party exclusives are much more diverse.
Did anyone see MS's numbers? $1 billion spent on Xbox Live. Wow. Do people really want to pay $50 a year to have a group slideshow of photos? I don't mind the price, but for what you get? Halo 3 servers are terrible for what I pay.

For all those licking their wounds and trying to play this off like it doesn't matter: I feel your pain. I know it's tough and this decision is going to haunt Sony for months leading up to the release of the game. But if anything I think this actually makes FFXIII less special. It's like having a friend with benefits. Sure it's fun for a while but do you really like the idea of another guy getting the same action you're getting? And on the same day?
Why Sony didn't lock this down with as much money as possible is beyond me. Did SE make this decision on their own without consulting Sony? Is the relationship with third-parties in jeopardy? The good news is that this was the last of the big third-party games. Everything else Sony has are licenses they own. Like we'll never see Halo on the PS3 (wouldn't get it even if it did) so we have nothing to fear when it comes to Kratos, Ico, Gran Turismo and others.
The biggest problem Sony has at this E3 is trying to top that announcement. Shy of announcing a partnership with Apple and releasing the iPSP I don't think they have anything in the cards that's as big as the FF news. Maybe dropping the price to $299 but even then it will look desperate in light of the FFXIII news.

Sigh..... Honestly..... does the people running their mouth about FFXIII even know that ther is more than one?
Agito went MP. Versus is still a PS3 Exclusive. If your willing to only settle for one of them then your not a real Final Fantasy Fan. Plain and simple.

Ok so this is bugging me now.MGS4 on 360 would work on multi-disc release like blue dragon or Lost Odyssey. Now before you slate me im a GAMER so i care not what console a GOOD GAME is on(Like a GAMER should do).BUT break MGS4 down to what you actually play.5 Small areas with little need for draw distance,No sort of speed required because you move slow.and a play time of 6-8 hours tops of play.Remember the game clock does not stop during cut scenes so if you skip them on your second run through you will see what I mean.I have been a sony fan since Playstation 1.But the main focus for them now seems to be FPS and the odd 3rd person. They cant seem to get anything right on the ps3.Look at the genre line up on Xbox 360 FPS,3rd Person.RTS,RPG,Racing,Flight SIM,Arcade,Retro,Soon to have N64 retro(With nintendo logo it is confirmed with banjo).I dont see why GAMERS would care if a game is multi-platform.I mean FF XIII will have an even bigger fan base now,and im happy for Square-Enix if this happens. To be Honest I have and play both PS3 and a Xbox 360 Elite and there is little to no difference.I have seen new 360 gameplay footage of fallout 3 and to be honest it has little to no difference in terms of graphics compared to somthing like MGS4.I think the notion of being a GAMER seem to be lost nowadays. If a game sells better for a company been a Multi-Platform release then all the better for them.I have been a game for 22 years and have seen alot of good companies go bankrupt. So as a Gamer if it helps the devs im all up for it.Just buy it on whatever console you want and ENJOY the game.

MGS4 won't go to 360, Kojia isn't the sort to spend many month just porting a game. On GT bonus round, a MGS4 episode. They had someone from the Official Playstation mag who had played through it twice before the games release. He said there is more to it than just porting the code, as many of you would know playing through the game yourselfs. It seems alot of work, time and money would be needed for a port.

Just push the power out of the ps3 with the games dev make and I could care less about which system it on. H*ll, you can even make it were ps3 vs xbox online for all I care. As long as you push the ps3 how its post to be push im fine. I bet all the game will look ten times better if the work on that, not try to keep the games looking the same.

Yes M$ throws money at developers, yes it's a buisness, is it a good buisness?? NO it actually isnt because in all this M$ is blowing this money not to improve their market share but to erode Sony's, They dont care about a faifr battle, they dont care about hardwork, they simpley throw money at a problem until it goes away this is not SMART BUISNESS it's the pathetic arm swinging of a spoiled brat that cant get it's way. Smart buisness is Developing what your consumers want or creating a desire for it by way of research and experiemental development. if you're paying attention what I just discribed as good buisness is what Sony's been doing. NOT M$. In the end M$ will post a lost again and they'll do it because they blew more money than they made trying to BUY their legacy just as they did with the first Xb*x If they actually had shareholders they'd have someone compaining about it. Instead all they have to answwer too is one super rich geek who stole the thing tha made him a billionaire and his only gola in life is to obliterate competition, not coexist, and he'll hurt the console gaming market the same way he hurt PCs.
Oh and while this guy is being so d4mn c()cky he should think about why FF13 IS NOT on the 36* in japan... I'll tell you want because after two and a half years they still havent sold a million systems and a 7 year old system called the PS2 regularly beats their monthly sales.

Microsoft has a good reason to be boasting. Sony better step up its game cause it's shameful how they were able to let this one slip by. If I was Sony, if I couldn't get FFXIII back in the pocket, I would go on a smear campaign and expose the relationship between SE and Microsoft. Eveyone here knows that SE was paid off.

WHAT? Microsoft is getting FF13? I guess it's really not surprising. Well Sony, it was good knowing you, but obviously you can no longer compete in this market. It's kinda wierd really because a couple weeks ago people were complaining about star ocean going the MS, and everyone was saying "at least we still have FF13" but obviously this is no longer the case. Multi-platform isn't a bad thing for the xbox 360, but it is for the ps3 because the titles are never as good as it's 360 counterpart. I'm just tired of all the BullS**t. 2 years for in-game xmb, then it bricks peoples ps3's, and their losing all the games that people bought the system to play. Lame.

MS Is like DIsney, they are buying everything, Because they want the world to know that they are the best of the best, difference non, they just dont know where to spend the money, but in the moment of truth they just dont do anything good. What happend with the zune? gamestop decided not to sell it becuase ppl were not buying it, know with the gigantic table to send emails thru the internet and chek ur maps location instead of using a small gps! they just dont know in what to spend there money like i said already ! PPL say that Halo and gears of wars are the best games ever for me i dont even care about those two games! halo SUCKS and gear of war its ok, but besides that, tell me what other games are good, the rest is on ps3 too! MS SUCK IT!

Seems to me that Microsoft is trying to emulate everything that Sony does. The avatar seems like Home Lite, Lips is like Singstar, adding pinatas in a fashion similar to the card reading function in Eye of Judgement, and snagging every JRPG they can get, and then getting rid of the blades interface. Though they have plenty of third party support (many third party games that Sony has, MS has)... their first party strength is lacking. Gears of War and Halo aside (and they are FANTASTIC games) they have little else. I own both the 360 and PS3, and Sony just has a ton of first party exclusives that make it worth while.

....This just in...Halo is now coming to the ps3 (lol, just kidding)... well anyway sony is dropping the ball on this one. If this keeps up, almost every game I want will also be on the xbox 360. In my opinion so far the ps3 is turning out like the xbox, while the xbox 360 is turning out like the ps2 (more game variety....rpgs).
